Dig in.  Everything tastes good this week. Pat Forde flays Urban Meyer’s credibility. The NCAA is opening a real Pandora’s Box with its Penn State inquiry.  Not that I’d expect anything less from Mark Emmert. Illinois becomes the first team in D-1 history to open the season with six wins and finish with six losses; the Zooker is canned and essentially calls the disastrous end a flesh wound. The Florida Gators are anything but all in right now. Girl, do you eat with that finger? If Mike Leach can’t land a coaching job this offseason, he never will. “If we don’t give away points, there’s no way they can beat us.” – Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones to the Associated Press, about LSU in Saturday’s SEC title game.  (Makes a nice bookend with Tech’s Julian Burnett’s quote a few paragraphs down.) Missouri is about to find out with its move to the SEC that it has to spend money to make money. Filed under: Gators, Gators..., Georgia Football, Georgia Tech Football, It's Just Bidness, Mi

Mike Leach: Who Will Walk The Plank?

Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein said it, Mike Leach honed it and many college football programs across the country abide by it. Insanity: Making the same hire over and over again while expecting different results. As the regular season ends – and even before then – the college football coaching vacancies are...

Breaking News: Mike Leach heads WSU Coaching list

Insider Steve reports Mike Leach of Texas Tech will be the lead candidate as Head Coach of Washington State when Paul Wulff is fired. Without a doubt a hiring of Mike Leach would come with not only heavy baggage of his past indiscretions, but also intense criticism from the loyal Cougar fan base who are worried about WSU

Former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach wants to coach again. There's no question about that. Could Memphis be a landing spot for him?

NEWSWIRE: Report says Wulff likely out

A REPORT CITING unnamed sources says Paul Wulff is likely out barring a last minute change of heart by AD Bill Moos. The report says the decision was made prior to the Apple Cup outcome, with Mike Leach the frontrunner. Moos said through a spokesman he and Wulff would determine a time to meet on the status of the program and that "anything beyond that is pure speculation."

Kansas search for new coach begins

By B.J. Rains If Kansas football fans got their wish, former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach would be immediately hired to replace Turner Gill. Gill was fired Sunday after leading the Jayhawks to a 5-19 record in two seasons, igniting immediate speculation and discussion about who Kansas might turn to next. And if athletic director Sheahon Zenger wants to...

Gill's gone, so no more "nice guys" for KU?

The swift and ruthless execution of KU coach Turner Gill makes two things frighteningly clear. It also tosses out a question that may involve the ethical priorities of the entire university. Let's start with the facts this firing made so incredibly obvious: First, Gill was a "dead coach walking" for at least a month. Maybe, just maybe, wins over Iowa State, Baylor...

With Wulff gone, Leach adds up 6 ways for WSU

THE WINNINGEST coach in Texas Tech history could hardly buy an interview with a BCS-conference school a year ago. Now Mike Leach is rumored to be at or near the top of every wish list from Topeka to Westwood. With Paul Wulff being let go today, Washington State will rocket up that list of alleged pursuers. For six very good reasons, the fit between Ol’ Wazzu and Captain Air Raid...

Coaching Changes Galore

With the last week of the regular season complete, a ton of head coaching jobs have come open in college football.   Keeping track of coaching change rumors is about as productive as keeping up with recruiting rumors.  In other words, you'll hear everything and won't know exactly what to believe.  But in certain cases, we can make some educated guesses.  Starting locally...
