An interesting day of Big Ten football last Saturday left more unanswered questions.

Heading into last week, it looked as if Purdue and Michigan State would be the favorites to head into the Big Ten Championship game in December. After a close call at IU for the Spartans, and Purdue getting destroyed by the Wolverines on its home turf, the conference still looks very much like a toss up. Especially in the weak Leaders division.

One thing still remained certain, however. And that is that the Buckeyes are by far the best team in the conference this year.

Here is a recap of our picks and week six in the Big Ten:

Michigan State vs. Indiana

  • Kevin’s Pick – Michigan State 28-6
  • Dustin’s Pick – Michigan State 33-10
  • Final Score – Michigan State 31-27

A much closer game than either of us thought, but Sparty was able to make a comeback in the fourth quarter and get the victory. Indiana had a huge opportunity to get Kevin Wilson his first conference win, and in big time fashion, but let it slip away.

#24 Northwestern vs. Penn State

  • Kevin’s Pick – Northwestern 30-28
  • Dustin’s Pick – Penn State 24-19
  • Final Score – Penn State 39-28

The Wildcats showed that they still may not have what it takes to get out of the Legends division, unless they can play better on the road. Credit to Penn State, the Lions have now won four straight. Pretty impressive considering the o-2 start with losses coming to Ohio and Virginia.

Illinois vs. Wisconsin

  • Kevin’s Pick – Wisconsin 24-10
  • Dustin’s Pick – Wisconsin 37-7
  • Final Score – Wisconsin 31-14

It’s tough for me to realize this isn’t the Wisconsin team of old, even against an inferior opponent like Illinois. The Illini battled tough for awhile, but the Badgers were just too much at Camp Randall.

Michigan vs. Purdue

  • Kevin’s Pick – Michigan 41-39
  • Dustin’s Pick – Purdue 35-31
  • Final Score – Michigan 44-13

What a huge disappointment for the Boilermakers and huge momentum boost for the Wolverines. This game left folks scratching their heads because this should have been a much closer, exciting ball game.

#21 Nebraska vs. #12 Ohio State

  • Kevin’s Pick – Ohio State 35-31
  • Dustin’s Pick – Ohio State 23-20
  • Final Score – Ohio State 63-38

The Buckeyes laid it on the Huskers in the Horseshoe on Saturday night. It’s really too bad that the Buckeyes are not eligible for postseason play this year. Ohio State would be the only team that wouldn’t get embarrassed in a Rose Bowl battle come January.

Season Totals

  • Kevin – 51
  • Dustin – 42
