Former cyclist Greg LeMond went on the air for an interview with CNN's Anderson Cooper Monday night and proceeded to say some damning things about former rival Lance Armstrong.
Of course, damning evidence and testimony is nothing new for the maligned Armstrong, whose reputation has taken an unrecoverable hit since admitting to doping in January.
Nonetheless, LeMond's comments are certainly noteworthy.
From USA TODAY:

Cooper asked LeMond if Armstrong perpetrated the greatest fraud in sports history.

LeMond replied, "Absolutely. Absolutely. The greatest fraud was that, I mean, I know his physical capabilities. He's a top 30 at best. I mean, at best. No matter what. If he was clean and everybody else was clean, he's a top 30 at best. He's not capable of winning the Tour. He's not capable of the top 5."

"What do you think should happen to him now?" Cooper asked.

"This is not a sporting infraction," said LeMond, a three-time winner of the Tour de France. "This is criminal."

"You think he should go to jail?" Cooper asked.

"I do, yeah," LeMond said. "This was an organized mafia and he literally tried to destroy people."

Although Armstrong has avoided jail time up until this point, he has been stripped of his beloved Tour de France titles, all seven of them, and has lost the support (and money) of all his major sponsors, too.

  • Lemond, your a punk. You've always been a punk. You were doing PED's along with everyone else. So now you sit there and judge people. And you describe Armstrong's power as an " Organized Mafia and he tried to destroy people ". So basically what your saying is that you got punked out. You are your own worst enemy. Did you get your 5 more minutes of fame? Don't go away mad. Just go away.
  • Send LeMond to jail. He's a fudge packer anyway.
  • You know if this was from anyone but Greg LeMond I might listen to it. But back in the day when he turned on his team at the tour and showed what an egotistical punk he was, why would I want to listen to a guy like that. You know Armstrong may have doped during a time when it was rampant among bikers, but at least he did something good with his fame. LeMond on the other hand never did anything for anyone but himself.
  • Punk isn't the word for it! I always thought you were a classy guy,Greg, but now I know I was wrong, selling out Lance Armstrong, is low class, white trash, you did the same thing as he,that is why you are grayer than me,I am 68 years old and look better than you will ever look,as far as bike riding,I think I can hold my own without PED's!
  • I don't understand why this JERK doesn't shut the F@#k up!! I can't stand him!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Greg, I knew you when you grew up just outside of Reno and went to Wooster H.S...You have never impressed me and I have seen you race. I have seen Lance race in his early triathlon days beating the world's best w/o drugs. Do you really think that you are better?? Benard Hinault was better than you and you cried about him too...remember?? I don't support Lance or what he did...but he blows your doors off any day and without drugs. You're a legend in your own mind, Greg and as stated previously...just go away.
  • So Armstrong was doping and using PED's just like all of his top competition. The playing field was even. LeMond you are just bitter that you never really got the acclaim for your 3 wins. You are just a bitter old man.
  • Lance has done more to increase cancer awareness than any other athlete of his generation. When Lance recovered from cancer, he could have retired and been very comfortable. Instead Lance worked on becoming the greatest cyclist he could be and create a foundation the delivered huge sums for cancer research and awareness.
Mr. Lemond has done NOTHING but contribute to himself. It is time narrow minded individuals like Mr. LeMond allow Lance and his family to work on healing and get back to helping support the fight against cancer. (well said rtc327)
  • Oh come on rtc327, Greg Lemond is the Greatest American Cyclist in the History of the Sport. Who was that other guy you are defending?
  • I agree with you. Besides everyone enough has been done and said about Lance. Move on. move on to A-Rod.
  • Lance is an idiot who deserves nothing...I don't care who delivers the message.
  • Mr. Lemond, I doubt very seriously you will read this because the only person you listen to is that ego in your head. If everyone was clean,,,,Lance would've won the TDF. What creates most champions is a tremendous desire for winning. He would've figured it out. I do not condone what he did nor what they are doing in baseball to fill the seats...NFL for that matter. It's all out of control. What needs to stop is your opinion that no one asked for.
  • LeMond is fool for saying it, and A Cooper is a fool for airing it!
  • Anderson plays buttdarts, and lemond rides with no seat !!!

Things could be getting tense in Chicago between Derrick Rose and the Bulls. At the very least, there is a miscommunication about the feelings in the organization as he recovered from injuries. Here is what Rose told Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times about how the organization felt and if there was tension: “I’m happy I didn’t personally see it. I don’t want to see that...

Of course, that was until 2012 when the new division realignment was announced. Currently there...
