John Cena wanted to have some fun with the Philadelphia crowd during WWE’s live broadcast of “Raw” on Monday night, and he knew exactly where to turn. Part of a wrestler’s job is to know the audience and find ways to get under its skin. Cena accomplished that by making a Donovan McNabb reference. Cena is scheduled for a rematch against The Rock on April 7 at Wrestlemania. The two fought last year at the same event, with The Rock coming out on top. According to our friend Spike Eskin of CBS Philly, Cena gave the following response when asked what it would be like to lose to The Rock again. “Donovan McNabb, Donovan McNabb,” Cena said as the crowd booed. “Statistically Donovan McNabb is the greatest quarterback ever to put on an Eagles uniform. But Mick [Foley], listen to how the people in the city that he played for remember him. Why? Because Donovan McNabb could not win the big one. Philadelphia cares about its teams. Philadelphia cares and has passion. And with that type of passion, they deserve someone who can win the big one. If I lose on April 7th, I will carry the legacy of Donovan McNabb.” Cena’s right. McNabb went to six Pro Bowls and led the Eagles to the NFC Championship Game five times. He was 1-4 in those games, losing in the Super Bowl to the Patriots the one year the Eagles did advance. Veteran quarterbacks have questioned McNabb’s work ethic, but it’s also possible he was just the victim of some bad luck. In any event, quarterbacks who fail to win a ring will always be criticized. Cena did a good job of opening some of those wounds in Philly on Monday. • I suppose Eagles fans still wish they had drafted Ricky Williams instead?
I will never understand the hate this player has gotten, he has been a great QB. He does indeed have the numbers to back it up. He fell short in the big game, but made it five times to the nfc Championship. Most teams wish they had that problem.
  • Yes, we do - We would have won the same amount of superbowls with ricky..and that's all that matters, not who's the best loser..u dope
  • Come on, the guy was puking like a sorority girl at the frosh party on the field. He obviously spent more time partying and less time preparing for the game. Not to mention he only hit a receiver in stride like 4 times during his whole Eagles career.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is facing a felony charge after he was allegedly involved in a hit and run in Albuquerque, N.M., early Sunday morning. Initially, it appeared that Jones would be facing a misdemeanor even if it was determined that he was the man who fled the scene of the accident. However,...Read More

Report: Landing Adrian Peterson too costly for Cardinals

Despite what head coach Bruce Arians says, the Arizona Cardinals do have some significant holes on their roster to fill. One of the biggest ones is at running back. Arizona finished second to last in total rushing yards for the 2014 season and averaged a league-low 3.3 yards per carry. It would be hard to find a better upgrade at the position than Adrian Peterson, but apparently...

Report: Antonio Brown joins Steelers voluntary work outs

Last week, Pittsburgh Steelers’ wide receiver Antonio Brown decided not to show up for the team’s voluntary workouts that began last Monday. It was reported that Brown was looking for new deal by sending the team a message with his planned absence from the workouts. On Monday, however, it would appear that Brown has changed his tactics. Probably against the advice of super-agent...

Charles Barkley: JR Smith should be suspended 10 games

Cleveland Cavaliers swingman J.R. Smith is in danger of missing at least the first game of his team’s second-round playoff series against either the Chicago Bulls or Milwaukee Bucks after he was ejected on Sunday for nailing an opponent in the face. Charles Barkley feels Smith should be out a lot longer than that. After...Read More

Kelly Olynkyk: I'd probably get killed if I went to Cleveland

Kelly Olynyk reiterated Monday what he said after Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers: He did not intentionally injure Cavs forward Kevin Love. “Obviously, I would never intentionally hurt him or any player on the floor,” the Boston Celtics center told The Boston Globe. “I don’t think anybody in our league would intentionally try and hurt someone, especially at this...

Report: Redskins likely to pick up Robert Griffin III's option

The Washington Redskins announced on Monday that they will pick up the fifth-year option on Robert Griffin III’s rookie contract. This is a decision that will keep him with the team through at least the 2016 season. The price to pick up RGIII’s option will be a cool $16.1 million in 2016, which is quite the bounty for a quarterback that has struggled with consistency and injuries...

Eagles trying to trade Marcus Smith for another duck?

If we have learned anything about Chip Kelly since he took over as the personnel boss for the Philadelphia Eagles, it’s that he’s willing to part with any player on the roster. It doesn’t matter if you’re a franchise quarterback, one of the best running backs in the NFL, an All-Pro center, or a draft bust, everybody can be moved. Now it sounds like another Eagle is on the...

Chris Paul-Blake Griffin no longer a fragile relationship

The Los Angeles Clippers are supposedly a team riddled with personality issues. Chris Paul is apparently a jerk. Austin Rivers is daddy’s little boy. Blake Griffin hates Chris Paul because Chris Paul is a jerk. Fun stuff like that. Los Angeles struggling in the first few games of its series against the San Antonio Spurs didn’t help matters, either; nor did a few late-season...

Adam Wainwright injury leaves innings void for Cardinals

The St. Louis Cardinals took two of the three games from the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend, but the wins cannot wash over the losses the team suffered. Over three games, Yadier Molina, Adam Wainwright, and Jason Heyward all left games early due to injury. Molina did not play on Saturday or Sunday, but has […]
