Here’s something straight out of the abnormal: a live shark was found on a golf course in California on Monday. The photo above is of a two-foot-long shark that showed up on the 12th hole tee box at the San Juan Hills Golf Club course in San Juan Capistrano. San Juan Hills Golf Club spokesman Melissa McCormack tells Larry Brown Sports that one of the course’s attendants, Bryan Stiver, came across the shark on the 12th hole. She says he saw it wiggling around, so he picked it up and threw it in the back of his cart and took it back to the clubhouse. Stiver briefly kept the shark in a bucket of water to which he added some salt. He later took the shark to Dana Point and released it into the water where it swam away, leading them to believe it was still alive. Though some golfers were on the green, McCormack told LBS that Stiver was the only one who saw the shark before it was taken away. McCormack has an interesting theory to explain how the shark got there. She believes that a bird must have plucked the shark from the ocean and dropped it on the course. She bases that explanation on the punctures the shark had by its dorsal fin, and the course’s proximity to the ocean (it’s less than four miles away). McCormack believes the shark was a leopard shark, which are found along the Pacific coast from Mexico to as far north as Oregon. We’ve seen other examples of animals by golf courses, but this has to be the craziest. Actually, this one still might take the cake. Luckily nobody was hurt and the shark appeared to be saved.

Belichick mum on Deflategate in first remarks since discipline

FOXBORO, Mass. — New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was cleared of any wrongdoing in the Wells Report, but he still indirectly received harsh punishment for Deflategate. The Patriots lost a first-round draft pick in 2016 and a fourth-rounder in 2017. His starting quarterback, Tom Brady, is currently suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season. Dwight Howard suspended for first game of 2015-16 season

Even if the Houston Rockets had pulled off a win against the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, they would have likely been without center Dwight Howard for the following game. The NBA announced on Friday that Howard has been suspended for the first game of the 2015-16 season for throwing an elbow at Andre Iguodala. HOU's D. Howard has common foul...

Bucs veterans missing Jameis while he's at rookie symposium

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has apparently made a lasting impression on the team’s veterans after just a few practices. Winston is with the rest of the NFL’s rookies right now in Los Angeles for the Rookie Symposium, and his absence is being keenly felt on the practice field and in the locker room. Defensive end Jacquies Smith recently spoke about the...

Bulls GM: No teams asked to talk with Tom Thibodeau

Tom Thibodeau may be difficult to work with, but the Chicago Bulls are doing a better job of turning him into a sympathetic figure than they are of validating themselves for firing a head coach that reached the postseason every year he was in charge. Before the Bulls fired Thibodeau on Thursday and blasted him...Read More

Aaron Rodgers could take on more play-calling duties

Aaron Rodgers could have more control than ever running the Green Bay Packers offense this upcoming season. The team is undergoing a sort of transformation offensively this offseason with the play-calling duties falling now to Tom Clements. Head coach Mike McCarthy has been the man behind the mic, so to speak, since taking over in 2006. But an abundance of blunders caused him...

DeMaurice Smith: NFL teams are blackballing Ray Rice

Can a running back who is 28 years old, missed an entire season of football and has a history with domestic violence be “blackballed” by NFL teams? NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith seems to think that is what is happening with former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice. “This, unfortunately, is a league...Read More

Chip Kelly: Tim Tebow is a quarterback

If Tim Tebow somehow makes the Philadelphia Eagles’ roster out of training camp, it will be as a quarterback and no other position. At least, that’s what Chip Kelly wants us to believe. “He’s a quarterback,” Kelly told reporters Thursday, per NFL.com’s Marc Sessler. “That’s how we’re looking at Timmy. We’re not looking at him...Read More
