A South African surfer was found alive on Wednesday after it is suspected that he fell overboard on a surfing trip and survived in the water for 27 hours. Brett Archibald was found floating on his back in the Indian Ocean — alive — by a rescue team 12 miles off of the Mentawai Island of Sipora. Archibald was part of a group traveling on a surf trip to Indonesia, and it is believed that he fell overboard during the night while battling seasickness. When Archibald didn’t show up for breakfast, his travelmates knew something was wrong. Archibald was eventually found by the crew of a boat out of Sydney after treading in the water for more than a day. The married father of two told the magazine Surfing Life that he suspects he passed out at some point while getting sick and woke up in the water around 3:15 a.m. with the boat miles away front of him. “He said he came close to drowning at least eight times during his 27 hour ordeal [swimming and drifting at sea] and that he had been stung by jelly fish, picked at by fish and seagulls had tried to pluck his eyes out,” Craig Lambinon, who works in Sea Rescue Communications for the National Sea Rescue Institute told Stab. Archibald said he wouldn’t have been able to last at sea much longer than he did. He said that he saw land at least five times but was unable to get close to it because the current kept pulling him out. Photo via Facebook/Searching For Brett Archibald

  • Something in this story is fishy no pun intended. Either this guy was in extraordinary shape and born with lungs of steel, or he is the second coming of Christ!

RUMORS & GOSSIP

Steelers fans were more profane on social media

It’s no secret Steelers fans are one of the most passionate NFL fan bases out there. And this is nothing new. Historically, they’ve always had a strong presence wherever they play—traveling well and rocking the black and yellow in nearly every square inch of North America. They will also go to great lengths to defend their team. And sometimes profanity is involved. On that...

Seahawks praise Tom Brady's trash-talking ability

This embed is invalid   " /> Tom Brady can really flap his gums.   Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, who has a history with Brady, said earlier this week that the New England Patriots quarterback is more “fiery” than the rest of the NFL signal-callers. Several of Sherman’s teammates agree, making it clear that Brady is a fantastic trash...

Richard Sherman's girlfriend talks possible Super Bowl baby

A big story emerging out of the buildup to Super Bowl XLIX is whether or not one of the Seattle Seahawks’ best players will even be on the field come Sunday. It doesn’t have anything to do with a nagging injury — although he is dealing with that issue, too — it’s all about how...Read More The post Richard Sherman’s girlfriend opens up about possible Super Bowl baby appeared...

DeMarco Murray: I don't pay attention to being replaced

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray is slated to become a free agent in March. And while he’s coming off a season that saw him put up a league-high 1,845 yards and 13 touchdowns, a return to the Cowboys is far from a certainty. With the Cowboys honing in on signing Dez Bryant to a long-term extension and very little money under the salary cap, there’s a strong possibility...

Rex Ryan praises Patriots, calls Deflategate 'unfortunate'

If it’s any consolation to the New England Patriots, it looks as though one of their biggest adversaries is on their side.   Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan briefly spoke to reporters in Phoenix on Thursday, but it was still enough time for someone to ask a DeflateGate question. Ryan scoffed after being asked if he ever suspected the Patriots of deflating footballs while he...

Report: Thibodeau’s relationship with Bulls 'beyond repair'

Known as one of the best defensive minds in the NBA, Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau has had a tremendous amount of success in the Windy City.  But it hasn’t come without some major behind-the-scenes drama. Joe Montana pins blame for Deflategate on Tom Brady

Joe Montana essentially stated it is his belief that if there’s anyone behind the entire “Deflategate” scandal, it can only be one person: Tom Brady. According to Montana, there’s only one person who would be allowed to authorize the manipulation of game balls, and that person is the quarterback. “If I ever want a ball...Read More The post Joe Montana pins blame for ...
