My Plan is to lose every game my first year?

Posted July 14, 2013

How many new coaches in any sport would plan to lose their first year in any sport?

I saw a quote on Bird flippers blog today from Chip Kelly "my job is to win right now." No I'm sure Kelly would have told all he wasn't going TO win any game because of his no experience in coaching in the NFL.

When Dana Altman was introduced a few years ago to coach men's basketball at Oregon I don't recall he saying his plan was to lose?

I think many better get through their silly heads Charles chip Kelly isn't  a god and unless he's lucky, he isn't going to bring any magic act to philly and a instant super bowl win?

Yes in college "school: Kelly  did wonders as a head coach or an assistant coach , we aren't talking NFL.

And now as we in Eugene approach a new college football season are faced with yes a brand new coach who has no head coaching on his resume in head coaching in college.

The thinking is Oregon will finish 11-1 under the new  coach.

I still say how do they get that when the new guy hasn't coached a single game yet?

This reminds me of so many on yard barker practically calling for Kelly's head allready?

and some even second guessing the new coach here in Eugene?

all ready?

But that  is the thought of most fans, win or get lost?

  • Of course Kelly's (and every coach out there) plan is to win but stating that we also know that he isn't going to win every game his first year and the Eagles will not win the Super Bowl. They will need a lot of luck to reach .500 this year with so many changes. That is why some of us stated that we would be fine with another poor outing so the Eagles could target what many of us realize they may need in the 2014 draft...a franchise QB. It isn't about wanting the players and the coaches to intentionally lose games...it's knowing that the team doesn't have a playoff run in them this year anyway and hoping they have a shot at drafting that elite player.
  • I laugh at the Portland trail blazers who still don't know and whom am I to talk, but I look at the many super stars they could have had from Michael Jordan to Kevin Durant , but chose Sam Bowie and got Greg" Often injured "Oden.
funny how you inserted the words "Intentionally lose games?" If I was told to do that? Id quit on the spot!
