Indianapolis, IN- There’s not really much to guarantee with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing these days. But one thing that’s as close to a guarantee you’ll get this weekend for the 20th annual Brickyard 400 is Kevin Harvick getting a top 10 finish. Harvick is very strong at the famed 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 2003 Brickyard 400 champion has completed 99.4-percent of the laps at Indy and is usually a top 10 threat every time his No. 29 Chevrolet hits the track here. Harvick has four top fives and seven top 10′s in 12 career Brickyard 400 starts. He’s finished in the top 15 at Indy in six of the past seven races including a 13th place finish last year. With him knowing his way around IMS and off to a great first half of the 2013 Cup season he’s certainly going to be among the favorites Sunday. Harvick enters Indy fourth in the Sprint Cup standings. He’s finished in the top 10 nine straight races and 10 in the last 11. He’s also won twice in the last 10 races and is arguably one of the hottest drivers entering the weekend. He’s finished in the top 15 in 17 of the last 18 races this year and all but two times this season. Harvick and Stewart-Hass Racing made the official announcement that the two parties would be pairing up in 2014 and beyond a few weeks ago. He will be bringing Budweiser with him to SHR so the all the stress has been lifted from Harvick as it’s finally out in the open. Now “Happy” can focus on winning races and trying to earn his first Sprint Cup Series championship. Another thing to watch for at Indy and Harvick is Chevrolet’s dominance at the track. Chevy has won every Brickyard since Harvick’s victory in 2003 and 11 of the last 12 races here. With having a solid engine package, finishing in the top 15 in six of the past seven Brickyard’s and having nine straight top 10′s in Cup competition entering the race I’d say Harvick is a big favorite.   Eric Smith is the Lead Motorsports Writer for Race Review Online.
