Here are three considerably different mock-draft scenarios projecting what might happen in the NBA Draft Thursday night for the Detroit Pistons and three local players -- Michigan's Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr., and the University of Detroit's Ray McCallum Jr.: Sam Amico, FoxSports.com Burke (6-foot point guard): Seventh pick overall to Sacramento. "Determined winner with all the needed point guard skills." Detroit (No. 8 pick overall): C.J. McCollum, a 6-foot-3 guard from Lehigh. "Intelligent, driven and athletic enough. Maybe a bit small to play the two (shooting guard)." Hardaway (6-6 shooting guard): No. 22 to Brooklyn. "Natural scorer with mental toughness." McCallum (6-2 point guard): Second round, No. 43 overall, to Milwaukee. Scott Howard-Cooper, NBA.com Detroit: Burke. "Teams love the intangibles - leadership, toughness, the experience in big games - of the college Player of the Year. But questions remain about small guards who lack the special level of athleticism usually needed to compensate for small stature." Hardaway: No. 30, final pick of the first round, to Phoenix. "No killer crossover like his father, but the next generation can score, pass and is a competitor. He needs to get stronger, but will have a chance to stick as a long-term solution in Phoenix." McCallum: Second round, No. 56 overall, to Detroit. "It's not just a local pick. McCallum makes good decisions with the ball and can get to the basket." Chad Ford, ESPN.com Burke: No. 6 to New Orleans. This is "Plan B" in case Georgetown small forward Otto Porter and Maryland center Alex Len are off the board. Detroit: Anthony Bennett, a 6-8, 240-pound forward from UNLV. Pistons president Joe Dumars "will be grinning ear-to-ear" if Bennett falls to this spot. "He (Bennett) can play both the three and the four, can both stretch the floor (with his perimeter shooting) and play in the post. The Pistons have other needs, including point guard, but Bennett is too much of a talent to pass up. Trey Burke and (Syracuse point guard) Michael Carter-Williams are the other two possibilities." Hardaway: No. 25 to Los Angeles Clippers. "Hardaway is a coach's favorite." McCallum: Second round, No. 48 overall, to Los Angeles Lakers. "Brings a lot to the table as a heady point guard who can run a team and get to the rim."
