MLB Injury News:
Washington Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg threw a bullpen
session yesterday without experiencing any discomfort in his side, allowing the
team to clear him to return from the disabled list and make Sunday’s start
against the Cleveland Indians, according to Ian McCue of MLB.com.
Strasburg has been sidelined since early June with a lat
injury. It forced him out of his last appearance, and while he initially avoided the disabled list the Nationals ultimately placed him on the shelf in order to give him enough time to properly heal.

hurdle he had remaining was yesterday’s bullpen session, and he cleared that
with relative ease. While he wasn’t necessarily satisfied with the session,
manager Davey Johnson chalks that up to Strasburg being a perfectionist.
"I mean, he's never satisfied. He didn't have the
pinpoint control that he expects out there," Johnson said of Strasburg.
"I think he attributes it more to the light air. Steve's always a
Washington is certainly happy to get their ace back, as he
had been extremely solid prior to his injury. Over 12 starts spanning 74 1/3
innings, the 24-year-old has maintained an ERA and WHIP of 2.54 and 1.063 with
a 3.48 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
