Someone over at NESN was asleep at the wheel on Friday during a broadcast of the ACC Tournament.  Sportspickle wrote a satirical story on Thursday saying that Brian Urlacher would sign a one-day contract with the Green Bay Packers because he “wanted to go out a winner.”  NESN clearly didn’t understand the satire and reported it as real news, opening themselves up to a lot of criticism and making them the subject of quite a few jokes.  Perhaps a quick double-check of facts or a strict use of your common sense on this one would have helped. Now retired Urlacher wanted to play for Cowboys

The great Brian Urlacher will go down as a Chicago legend. He was one of the NFL's most famous faces during his 13-year career with the Chicago Bears. He was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, a five-time All-Pro and sits right behind Ray Lewis as one of the finest defensive players of his generation. Urlacher has retired, but if he had his way, he'd be playing one more...

Bears honor Urlacher in Full-Page Ad

The announcement for Brian Urlacher’s retirement came unexpectedly after he visited several teams this offseason, but he ultimately decided to hang up the cleats. He is one of a few rare legends of the game that played their entire careers for one team. In the past, when players left a team or retired, they’d take out an ad in the papers thanking the team. This time, the Bears...

So What's Next for Brian Urlacher?

The Chicago Bears already said good bye to Brian Urlacher, but the former great didn't decide to call it a career until yesterday (Wednesday). Personally, I didn't see him really hanging it up; I thought he was likely going to drag his feet filing his papers and as soon as someone got hurt and teams had a need he would be back. After reading some of his comments in the...

Vikings Say No, Urlacher Still Unsigned

The fact that Brian Urlacher is still an unsigned middle linebacker after 13-years of leading the Chicago Bears is baffling. Sometimes even vets are dealt a bad hand. With a new head coach and defensive coordinator running the show it was only a matter of time before the loyalty that kept Urlacher a Bear ended. Now that Urlacher is searching

Urlacher recalls getting his ankles broken by Brady

For how amazing he is at the quarterback position, it is truly shocking how goofy and painfully slow Tom Brady is on the run. No matter what, it is always good for a laugh when he manages to escape the pocket on foot. Typically, it does not end well, but over the years, he has had a few shining moments on the run. The best probably being his TD scramble in the Snow Bowl (although...

Sean Lee: Can the Dallas Cowboys Linebacker Be the Next Brian Urlacher?

As of this morning, Brian Urlacher is no longer an active NFL player. He took to Twitter to announce his retirement, and with it, the game lost one of the all-time great MLB's. Urlacher's tenacity was nothing if not palpable. The look on his face that was captured pre-snap by ESPN's zip line cameras was often downright scary, regardless of how much distance was between...

Why Washington Redskins Linebacker London Fletcher Might be the Most Underrated Player in NFL History

If you actually watch football and have done so for the last 10-15 years, you’ve heard the name London Fletcher. Fletcher has been floating around the league since 1998, beginning his career with the Rams before moving on to Buffalo and then to Washington where he currently plays. If he walked into a crowded room, most people would not recognize him, let alone know he was a professional...
