This is just flat out embarrassing.  If you’re going to do a piece on the captain of one of the most popular teams in the NHL and you’re going to criticize his play, you should get his name right.  This not only speaks to how brutally the New York Daily News is, but to how unpopular the NHL has gotten with their repeated lockouts. Thanks to our good friends over at Wrigleyville Sports we are giving away three of these sweet Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Final hats. These hats are mesh flex fit from...

Jonathan Toews Claims Blackhawks Have, Can ‘Expose’ Zdeno Chara

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara didn’t have his best game of the postseason on Wednesday night when the Blackhawks evened up the Stanley Cup Final at two games apiece. Two days later, it sounds like the Blackhawks are taking all the credit. Chicago’s captain Jonathan Toews seemed to have gained some confidence after scoring his first goal of the series. in that 6-5 overtime win...

Blackhawks to reunite their top line from Detroit series in Bickell, Toews and Kane

From CBS Sports' Adam Gretz: With his team trying to avoid falling into a 3-1 hole in the Stanley Cup Final, Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville seems prepared to reunite Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane on the same line for Game 4 on Wednesday night. The two have rarely played together at even-strength over the first three games of the series but were back on a...

Lord Stanley Knotted At Two

Just a few things that caught my eye: Welcome to the postseason, Jonathan Toews -- you finally got off the schnide. You should have probably had two goals and you made the winner possible. Have the Bruins woken the bear? So, what was up with Zdeno Chara? He was frustrated one minute and falling the next. And he was a better door than window for Tuukka Rask on the...

Blackhawks’ Big Guns Team Up on Top Line, Provide Chicago With Spark in Game 4 Win

BOSTON — After going through the motions for the first three games of the series, the Blackhawks’ big guns were reunited on Wednesday night for Game 4 and the move paid off big time for the Hawks and head coach Joe Quenneville. Jonathan Toews centered Bryan Bickell and Patrick Kane to reunite a line that led the Blackhawks to a Game 5 win in the Western Conference finals over...

From mites to NHL, nicknames a hockey tradition

Anyone who has ever played a sport knows that nicknames are part of the game, a byproduct of both competition and camaraderie. But hockey players have taken it to an art form. From the littlest mite to the NHL's biggest stars, everyone's got a moniker - and usually more than one. Tazer. Little Ball of Hate. The Great One. Sid the Kid. Looch, aka Gino. The Bulin Wall. Kells...

Chicago's woes don't end with Hossa

Jonathan Toews pedaled on the stationary bike. Patrick Sharp and Dave Bolland were swarmed by reporters. The Chicago Blackhawks non-starters took part in an optional skate. There was no sign of the one Blackhawks player of utmost concern on Tuesday: Marian Hossa. Bolland, for instance, wouldn't even say he's seen Hossa, who was an unforeseen scratch before the Bruins'...

Patrice Bergeron Continues to Impress With Dominant All-Around Effort in Bruins’ Game 3 Win

BOSTON — A day before Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, the NHL announced that Jonathan Toews was the recipient of the Selke Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward. After three games of the Cup Final, however, the voters that opted for Toews over Patrice Bergeron — a handful of them from Chicago, no doubt — might be rethinking that decision. The Bruins took a 2-1 series...

Chicago takes a wild Game 4, 6-5 in OT

Well that was crazy. The Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks went to overtime yet again, for the third time in four games, but this time around, they went to OT tied 5-5, and a wild and crazy game yielded a wild and crazy finish as Brent Seabrook's shot flittered through three Bruins and Jonathan Toews, who'd been shoved into Tuukka Rask's crease by Zdeno Chara. Hawks...

It’s Starting to Look a Lot Like Pittsburgh

Watching the ineptness of the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final was eerily and scarily familiar to the flaccid performance by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference Finals. No sustained offensive zone time, physically outworked, inability to get to the net, seasoned stars making uncharacteristic mistakes and a completely impotent power play – sound...

Game Three

Chicago's offence seems to have dried up.  They haven't scored a goal since the first period of game two.  This was the highest scoring team in the West Conference this season.  It appears that their best scorers are hurt or injured.  Marian Hossa missed game three as a late scratch.  Neither Jonathan Toews nor Patrick Kane have looked like the stars they usually look...
