It appears that Brian Kelly’s flirtation with a NFL head coaching job is over, for now. Prior to the BCS National Championship game, Kelly told reporters that he had no interest in a NFL coaching job, but shortly after the Irish were destroyed by the University of Alabama, Kelly interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles prior to leaving for vacation abroad.Now, Kelly will be returning to coach Notre Dame in 2013.
CBS Chicago reported on Saturday that Kelly was indeed interested in a coaching job at the next level, but he had not received a firm offer as of yet. In the wake of the uncertainty surrounding Kelly’s future, Notre Dame lost a top level linebacker recruit, who decommitted and switched to the University of Florida instead.
Last night, news broke that Kelly was putting his ideas of joining the NFL on hold and will return to coach the Irish again in 2013.
