The 2012 NFL season came to a close last weekend. The AFC champion Baltimore Ravens took out the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers in what was a wild contest throughout. Now that football is over, weekends may get a little rough for some people. While the first weekend without football may have been tough to get through, Football Nation is giving you something to look forward to!That is right, folks. We are bringing back the “top 100 players” series. The series started back in 2011 as players around the league listed who they thought were the best in the game. For the second year in a row, you will be able to see the list early here at FN! Contributor Cooper Allen has spent the past few weeks re-watching game film from the 2012 season. In just one week from now, he will share his list of the top 100 players in the NFL.Starting at 100, the list will debut on Sunday, February 17 and count down by 10. Players 90-81 will air on February 24 and so forth. Every Sunday will feature a new set of players until we get to the top 10.The final 10 players will be published Sunday, April 21. This is just four days prior to the 2013 Draft. Here are the guidelines that will be followed...No players solely involved in special teams will be on the list. Kickers, punters, returners and the like have been left off.Players will not be included just because of their name. If they missed a significant amount of time to injury and did not produce enough, they will not be on the list.Hopefully you are as excited to read the series as I am to write it. I am looking forward to hearing all of your input over the next couple of months. Thanks for reading and see you on February 17!
