Well I guess Eric Messier won’t be getting his number retired and I guess Matt Hunwick didn’t want to give up No. 22.
While I don’t know for sure about the latter Nathan MacKinnon will not wear his former number 22 – currently worn by Hunwick – with the Avalanche his rookie season.
MacKinnon announced on his Twitter feed today that he’ll wear No. 29.
