Found March 17, 2012 on Kukla's Korner:
Last night, the Capitals fell 3-2 in Winnipeg.  Even just watching it on television, you could get a sense of how intense the game was.  The 15,000+ fans in the MTS Centre only added to this feel, who made it hard to hear Joe B at times.  In the past, it has been like these games that has caused Ovechkin to elevate his game to a dominating pace.  What we saw Saturday, though, was a player who lacked any sense of purpose. Everything was in place to light a fire under Ovechkin.  It was an intensely physical game, in Canada, with the entire crowd booing him every time he had the puck.  In the third period, there appeared to be a perfect time for Ovechkin to put in a classic rush, eventually putting the puck behind Pavelec.  He gathered the puck, sped down the right wing side, and only had Grant Clitsome standing between him and jumping into the glass.  Clitsome was a late round (271st overall) 2004 draft pick of the Blue Jackets.  Prior to this season, he played just 42 games for the ...

Byfuglien helps Jets clip Caps, close in on eighth place

Defenseman Dustin Byfuglien scored to snap a tie midway into the third period as the host Winnipeg Jets pulled to within two points of eighth-place Washington with a 3-2 victory over the Capitals on Friday. Captain Andrew Ladd netted his eighth goal in 11 contests and Nik Antropov also tallied for the Jets, who secured their fourth straight victory at MTS Centre. Brooks Laich recorded...

Winnipeg Jets # 1 Hater Goes Ballistic (NSFW)

The Winnipeg Jets suffered a 4-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes this evening in yet another battle for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.  Currently in 9th place, the Jets still have a decent shot at advancing to the postseason and I’m fairly certain that the entire city of Winnipeg would lose their sh*t if they could pull it off. While most hockey fans...

GARTH: Jets Up The Ante

The Sabres enter their game in Sunrise on Saturday night in tenth place in the Eastern Conference. Dustin Byfuglien's goal midway through the third period gave the Jets an impressive 3-2 regulation with against the Washington Capital on Friday night. The bad news is that the Sabres drop from ninth place to tenth place. The good news is the Jets won in regulation, hence, there is...

Jets’ Mark Stuart rails Marcus Johansson

George here filling in for Paul, who likes to tell you that he’s filling in for me (go figure, my boss actually sleeps. I did not know that…): Winnipeg Jets defenseman Mark Stuart absolutely railed Washington Capitals forward Marcus Johansson with a high, hard hit on Friday night: The Washington Post’s Tarik El-Bashir reports that Johansson is OK, but the Capitals aren...

Jets 3, Capitals 2

Dustin Byfuglien crashed the net and scored the go-ahead goal in the third period as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Washington Capitals 3-2 on Friday night. As Byfuglien skated in front of Capitals goalie Tomas Vokoun, Evander Kane sent the puck into the crease and the big defenseman tipped it in at 9:21 of the third. Washington went on the power play during the final 2:22 of the...

VIDEO: Winnipeg Jet's fans mock Ovechkin with "Crosby's better chants."

A flood of people tweeted us about this. Credit goes to @whistler for the vid: The chants become louder as the vid goes on The announcers also acknowledge it. Really bizarre stuff. This might be the first documented case of a crowd outside of Pittsburgh chanting a pro Crosby thing.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Winnipeg Jets 3/18/12 Scoring Chances

It wasn't too long ago that Hurricanes fans dreaded the third period because the Canes would always seem to save their worst performance for that frame and ended up losing many games because of it. Over the last three games, the Canes have outscored their opponents 6-0 in the third period and have comeback wins in two of those games, as well. What is even more encouraging is...
