Norfolk State says men's basketball coach Anthony Evans has agreed to a three-year contract extension that will take him through the 2016-17 season. Athletics director Marty Miller announced the deal Friday. It comes after Evans guided the Spartans to a team-record 26 victories at the Division I level, their first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament championship and their first berth in the Division I NCAA tournament. Evans also received a $50,000 raise to $175,000. His contract was to expire after the 2013-14 season. Norfolk State was a No. 15 seed in the tournament, and beat second-seeded Missouri 86-84 in second round. The Spartans then lost 84-50 to Florida in the third round. Evans has a 78-82 record in his five seasons at Norfolk State.
