The Northwestern Wildcats pulled off a huge home victory over #12 Minnesota Golden Gophers. If the Wildcats want to make this the season they go dancing for the first time in school history, they will need more marquee wins like this one. What was missing from Wednesday night’s thrilling win, the students. Against a nationally ranked opponent, with an 8 pm start time, the Wildcats tipped off in front of about 75 students. How do I know this number? I was there and I was able to count every student in the student section one by one. For those of you quick to jump to the student section’s defense, no it did not fill up as the game went on, 75 was about it. You can count for yourself in this picture. It will be hard to make it to the NCAA tournament with home court showings like this one, but if Welsh-Ryan Arena gets full, it can really get rocking.

Northwestern upsets #12 Gophers, in front of very poor student showing
Every year Northwestern Wildcats basketball beats a couple ranked teams during the Big Ten slate. So whenever they play someone good at home you want to be there so you can see a big event, right? Like when the fans stormed the court after taking down a top ten Michigan State team last year. Well the “Wildside” student section doesn’t seem to think so. They hardly showed...
Swopshire plays role of catalyst for Cats
At Louisville, forward Jared Swopshire was just a role player for a team loaded with talent. On this Northwestern squad, the fifth-year senior must be a leader. In the Wildcats' 55-48 victory over No. 12 Minnesota, they wouldn't have won without Swopshire.

Weekend Match-Ups (by Donn)
First I would like to thank the UW Badgers for
splitting with Miami, the Goon now owes me a beer! Second I would like to thank the Minnesota
announcer, McCloud, for on Friday night, the used the “S” word, and admitted it
would take time to get over using the word Sioux, dang, I said it too.
