PHOTO: L.A. Times As expected, the Los Angeles Lakers have signed Manny Harris to a second 10-day contract, according to press release from the team. Lakers head coach Mike D’Antoni said the team planned to use Saturday’s off-day as an opportunity to evaluate Harris’ play and decide whether to ink the 24-year-old to another 10-day deal. Seeing as Xaiver Henry is set to be out for another 10-14 days, it definitely make sense to re-sign Harris and give him another 10 days to audition for a full-time gig. After this current deal expires, the Lakers will have to decide whether to waive Harris or sign him to a contract for the rest of the season. The decision will likely not only come down to how he performs over the next 10 days, but also will depend on the status of the team’s injured players. There’s also the need to think of any possible trades that could come before February’s deadline: Harris is taking up a roster spot that could be useful when trying to pull of a deal with another team. In five games so far with the Lakers, Harris is averaging 6.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in just under 21 minutes per game. The guard/forward is also shooting 30.8 percent from the floor and 27.3 percent from three-point range. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } }
