The Edmonton Oilers were down a pair of key players Monday after losing rookie forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and defenseman Dan Gilbert to injuries.

Nugent-Hopkins left the game after the first period with a shoulder ailment he suffered when he tripped into the boards. The 18-year-old has yet to miss a game this season.

Nugent Hopkins has 13 goals and 22 assists in 38 games.

Gilbert's night came to an end when he was smashed into the boards by Chicago's Dan Carcillo, resulting in a five-minute boarding major and a game misconduct. The team announced that Gilbert injured his knee on the play.

Gilbert has three goals and 12 assists in 37 games.
