okstate.com At the start of the 2012 college football season, Wes Lunt, a true freshman, was named the starting quarterback at Oklahoma State. Now, after just his second semester at the school, he’ll be transferring elsewhere. Oklahoma State released a statement today on its website about Lunt’s departure. Mike Gundy, head coach, had this to say: “We appreciate Wes and we thank him for everything he has done,” Gundy said. “He’s leaving on good terms and is making this decision based on what he thinks is best for his future.” After returning to the lineup after an early injury, Lunt turned in a poor performance against Kansas State, throwing three interceptions in a loss. The next time he saw the field of play was in the Heart of Dallas bowl against Purdue with a 55-7 lead.  Lunt was gracious upon his exit: “This was not a decision I took lightly, but it is a decision that I felt was right for me,” Lunt said. “I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the entire Oklahoma State University community. Specifically, I would like to thank the coaches, players, and the whole OSU football family. I wish the Cowboys the best of luck in the future.” It is not known which schools Lunt is considering.
