Found July 17, 2013 on Indians Baseball Insider:
Last week wasn’t as glamorous for the Lake County Captains in comparison to others as they went 1-5. Three of their losses were one-run games and it was the bullpen that let the team down in most of the decisions. As they return home for a week, perhaps the team will find friendlier outcomes in the confines on Classic Park this week. Smooth Sailing Richard Stock, C3 G, .600 BA, .600 OBP, 1.200 OPS, 8-for-13, 1 R, 0 RBI, 3:0 K:BB Stock hit a bit of a slump in June as he hit .175 for the month, but July has been a huge turnaround for him offensively. Through his last 10 games, he’s hit .472 – though only one of those 17 hits was for extra bases. Stock hits for average but he doesn’t drive the ball, which may be concerning when combined with his lack of walks. Grant Sides, RHP2 G, 0-0, 0.00, 4 IP, 1 H, 4:2 K:BB Sides’ return to Lake County has fared him well so far. He struggled in high-A Carolina before his demotion, so it seems he has some things to work on. Sides wore a Captains’ un...

The July 31st trade deadline is only two weeks away. The second half of the season is set to begin and the Indians are right in the thick of the playoff race as they are 1.5 games out of first place and 3.0 games out of the wildcard. WFNY Stats & Info: How bad has Mark Reynolds been?

The Indians have been a pleasant first-half surprise at 51-44. They’re on pace for 87 wins. Despite their streakiness, they’ve remained fairly close to the playoff picture through mid-July, which is far better than the collapses of the last two seasons. But one player in particular has seen his production fall off the Earth just like Manny Acta’s Cleveland teams: first baseman...

Indians All-Star Break Review: The Position Players

We have arrived at baseball’s All-Star break. The Cleveland Indians sit at 51-44, a game and a half out of first place in the AL Central. Indians hit jackpot with competitive balance lottery pick

The competitive balance lottery happened on Wednesday to no fanfare at all, but Indians fans should really be happy about it and need to know about it. The reason is simple: this pick becomes a big trade asset for the Indians. It could be the centerpiece in a trade, especially if it's for pen help. This is the second year of the competitive balance picks. For your team to qualify...

Cleveland Indians Second Half Primer

After a first season full of up and downs, the Indians have ended the first half of 2013 comfortably in second place in the American League Central behind the Detroit Tigers. The Indians have been a confusing team through the first half, showing greatness in every facet of the game at some point, but failing in all those same ways at other times. An example is that the Indians lead...
