One Jet At A Time:
This previous week in Jets camp, rookie QB Geno Smith has been an unfortunate and easy target for the media. Facing quotes from his former teammates and coaches, many are putting his character into question. As most of you know, I'm not, nor have been, the biggest Geno Smith supporter. However, when these quotes surfaced I saw this as a really unfair view of the rookie, and some things just have to be brought to light.
The media has a real casual way of bending quotes into their reports, forcing biased ideas to come about in their writing. They paint a picture that isn't necessarily true, while it still is. Reading between the lines that do not exist has become such a norm in reporting, follow-up interviews are almost expected. If that doesn't make any sense to you, take a look at this:

Rex Ryan has named Geno Smith the starting quarterback for the New York Jets third preseason game Saturday, against the New York Giants.
Rex Ryan, Marty Mornhinweg and the rest of the Jets coaching staff have not been given enough game film on Smith to be able to determine if he should be the starter week one. Smith played very little in the preseason opener because he injured...
After missing last week’s game with a sprained ankle, rookie Geno Smith will be the Jets starting quarterback for this Saturday’s game against the Giants, barring any setbacks.
Barring a setback with his ankle in next few days, I'm told Geno Smith will start vs Giants on Saturday. #nyj

Manish Mehta reports that, barring a setback this week, Geno Smith will start Saturday’s preseason game against the New York Giants.
Smith has been dealing with an ankle injury that kept him out of last week’s game. He is still in the competition with Mark Sanchez, but it appears as though Sanchez could have a slight advantage over Smith at this point in time.
The New York Jets quarterback competition has received an expectedly high level of scrutiny and criticism. It has been a battle filled with conspiracy theories, poor facial hair decisions and an ankle injury. Yet, there is a good chance we will know who the Jets starting quarterback will be against Tampa Bay by this time next week.
Many Jets fans have seem to forgotten that Geno...

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith will finally be getting a chance to start this week. Smith would have started game two but sprained his ankle kept him out of the game so the team hasn’t had a chance yet to see what the kid could do. If he’s healthy they’ll finally see what he has when they face the New York Giants. The team says its because of the ankle injury but I’m...
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that Mark Sanchez is close to winning the Jets quarterback battle against rookie Geno Smith.
According to Mehta, Jets GM John Idzik is trying his best to help Geno Smith become the starting quarterback for the team, but he’s right on the verge of losing that battle. It looks as though Mark Sanchez might keep his starting QB position...
The Jets and Rex Ryan have taken a huge step towards naming their s regulastars son starting QB by naming Geno Smith the week 3 starter over Mark Sanchez.
Week 3 is the most important preseason game and the starters usually play into the 4th quarter. Geno Smith starting the game says a lot about who is now in charge in NYC. It is well known that Mark Sanchez is Rex’s guy and I’m...
Nick Saban can’t be too happy, but Rex Ryan must be ecstatic.
Geno Smith was arrested on Saturday night. Only it’s not the Geno Smith your probably thinking of.
Smith, a sophomore cornerback at Alabama and not the New York Jets rookie quarterback, was arrested and charged with a DUI late Saturday night, according to Cecil Hurt of the Tuscaloosa News.

Geno Smith’s ankle looked better yesterday. His decision making? That still needs work.
The Jets rookie quarterback was back on the field after missing Saturday’s preseason win over the Jaguars because of a sprained right ankle. Smith moved better in practice yesterday than he has since suffering the injury on Aug. 9 but he still had a rough day to start off a crucial week in...
It wasn't quite "brutal" -- the word Jets coach Rex Ryan used to
describe a Geno Smith practice earlier this week -- but Mark
Sanchez by no means locked up the starting quarterback job with his
performance in New York’s 37-13 win over the
Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night.
With the New York Jets quarterback battle between Mark Sanchez and Geno Smith ongoing, the veteran signal-caller thinks he is deserving of the starting job.
The Jets’ quarterback bout will head into round three. Mark Sanchez couldn’t deliver a knockout punch in the team’s second preseason game keeping the door open for Geno Smith to fight again in the third preseason game against the Giants.
Smith’s stock likely improved without taking a snap as he sat on the sideline Saturday night with his injured ankle while Sanchez played...
