The Fiesta Bowl on Thursday, January 3 features a rather intriguing matchup between the Oregon Ducks and Kansas State Wildcats, but this matchup could very well have been for the BCS Championship if not for one fateful weekend in November. The Ducks’ title hopes were derailed by Stanford at Autzen Stadium in overtime, while Kansas State was crushed by Baylor, a talented but erratic football team that finished in the middle of the pack in the Big 12. Suffice to say, this meeting features two teams that have been amongst some of the strongest in Division 1-A Football.Kansas State has appeared in 15 bowl games throughout their long history, and the 2013 Fiesta Bowl marks their third consecutive season in a bowl game. This will also be the Wildcats third visit to the Fiesta Bowl, winning the 1997 game versus Syracuse but losing in the 2003 version against Ohio State.
