MLB Injury News:
While the Baltimore Orioles’ primary focus is on their
current American League Division Series opponents the New York Yankees, several
injured players are looking later into the playoffs when they hope to rejoin
the team. Baltimore released injury updates on outfielder Nick Markakis and
utility player Wilson Betemit.
Betemit continues to take batting practice at the Orioles’
Spring Training facility in Sarasota, FL. There’s some that said he was physically available for the ALDS, but the matchup wasn’t right and Baltimore opted to
keep him off the roster. However, if his progress continues there’s a chance he’ll
be added to the team’s roster if they’re able to advance past the Yankees.
While Betemit could be available for the Championship
Series, it may take Markakis a while longer to return. He did have the pins
removed from his broken thumb on Tuesday, and he’s hoping Baltimore can
continue to its playoff run long enough for him to fully recover.

First, the Orioles halted the Yankees' momentum. Now, it's public transportation. When the Yankees attempted to travel from Baltimore to New York on Tuesday via train, there were electrical difficulties. As a result, the team disembarked in Aberdeen, Md. and switched over to buses for the rest of the trip. "Well, I think our guys made the best of it and kind of laughed...
Miguel Gonzalez is enjoying the Baltimore Orioles' October attire.
After spending more than seven years bouncing around the minor leagues and recovering from injuries, he's not letting a thing get past him.
Now the rookie right-hander is taking off his postseason sweater and getting ready to pitch in Game 3 of the AL division series against the New York Yankees. He'...
Coming into Wednesday night's ALDS Game 3 at Yankee Stadium, the Baltimore Orioles were 16-2 in extra-inning games on the year -- a blemish-free 16-0 against everyone but the New York Yankees, and 0-2 against the one team standing between them and their first playoff series win in 15 years.
Make that 0-3.
In one of the most improbable postseason finishes in baseball history...
Jim Johnson had a slight margin for error a night after the Baltimore Orioles closer allowed a tie game to turn into a blowout.
Not that a one-run lead with the top of the New York Yankees lineup is much.
"It would have been nice to have a big lead, but I kind of figured that's how it usually works," said Johnson, who led the MLB in saves (51). "You have a rough...
Tonight the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles met for Game 4 of the American League Division Series. Emotions were high as at the end of the night either the Yankees would be heading to the Championship Series or the Orioles would force a game 5 to fight for the chance at heading there themselves.
This was the second game of the series that went into extra innings.Joe Saunders...
Tonight’s Baltimore Orioles/New York Yankees Game 3 American League Division Series match-up held a lot of important. The winner of tonight’s game would be up 2-1, holding a chance at clinching in tomorrows Game 4 and advance to the American League Championship Series. The Yankees were able to use the power of Raul Ibanez, who hit two home runs in the game, one to tie the game...
The Orioles head to New York to play game 3 from the American League Division Series (ALDS) after bouncing back to take game 2 and even then series at 1-1. In the first two games of the series it has pretty much been neck and neck minus one inning. To me it’s only fitting that for the Orioles magical season to keep going they have to win 2 of the next 3 in New York which is pretty...
With midnight approaching, the Baltimore Orioles' bats awoke for one more improbable rally.
Now they have a last shot to finally overtake the New York Yankees.
J.J. Hardy hit an RBI double in the 13th inning and Baltimore bounced back from a demoralizing loss to outlast the Yankees 2-1 Thursday night, forcing a deciding Game 5 in the AL division series.
After splitting 22...
NEW YORK -- The Baltimore Orioles remained as stubborn as ever, hanging in there inning after inning, the way they had game after game. Finally, after escaping one threat after the other from the New York Yankees' lineup full of home run hitters, the Orioles struck in the 13th inning Thursday. J.J. Hardy doubled in Manny Machado to give Baltimore a 2-1 win and force a decisive...
Even though the team ended up losing by a score of 3-2 to the Baltimore Orioles in Game 2 of its American League Division Series match-up, New York Yankees outfielder Ichiro Suzuki made the play of the game when he was able to avoid several tags by O’s catcher Matt Wieters with a series of [...]
