The success of this year’s offensive line hinges on the play of Frank Omiyale at right tackle.
And so far, Omiyale is not impressing anyone with his performance, even though he is expected to start Saturday night against the Chargers.
Even normally upbeat offensive coordinator Mike Martz has his concerns about Omiyale.
“He's not where he needs to be,” Martz admitted earlier this afternoon.
Imagine how QB Jay Cutler feels about that.
According to Bears coach, Omiyale has all the physical attributes to be a solid right tackle. At 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, he has the size and the athleticism the Bears like, but he’s still struggling to put the physical and the mental part of the game together.
