As far as bizarre injuries go, this ranks right up there with the best, and weirdest, of them.  Oxford United midfielder Adam Chapman heroically played through Saturday’s game against Wycombe—which Oxford won 3-1—while suffering the after effects of a burnt nipple, an injury he picked up Friday night when he spilled hot milk on himself as he prepared to feed his baby. Laugh all you want, but men’s nipples are a sensitive area, and accidentally splashing hot liquids on them is no joke.  Hot wax, on the other hand, is an entirely different ballgame. Chapman made a trip to the hospital to get his protuberance checked out, to which I’m sure the attending doctors prescribed something with aloe, because that seems to be the proper treatment for minor burns.  Or they just pointed and laughed at him, although I’m sure that’s a violation of their Hippocratic Oath or something. From the BBC (via Dirty Tackle)… “Adam Chapman, like this good dad he is, was making his baby some milk and he managed to shake the bottle up and down, but he didn’t put the lid back on properly. “He burnt his chest and had to go to hospital for a check up. “He’s burnt all his nipple. It’s an unusual injury, but he’s managed to play the game. We talk about injuries and what I have to go through in this job.” The word hero is thrown around way too loosely these days, but for Adam Chapman to play through an injury as devastating as a burnt nipple makes him a hero in the truest sense of the word.
