Fox Sports Wisconsin:
GREEN BAY, Wis. Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson will remain on injured reserve for the rest of this season after undergoing surgery Wednesday.
Benson initially was placed on Green Bay's injured reserve Oct. 10 after a Lisfranc foot injury, but the team designated him for return under the NFL's new rule. Under this rule, Benson had to sit out six weeks of practice, a period of time which ended this week. With Benson not healing as expected, however, he had a follow-up appointment this week that determined surgery was necessary.
The Packers signed Benson on Aug. 12, and the 29-year-old veteran immediately took over the starting running back role. In five regular-season starts, Benson accumulated 248 rushing yards on 71 attempts (3.5 yards per carry on average).
Benson will be a free agent after the season.

Green Bay Packers running back Cedric Benson will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season after having surgery on his foot.
The Packers made the announcement Thursday, one day after coach Mike McCarthy says Benson had surgery.
Benson was placed on injured reserve but designated to return on Oct. 10 after spraining his left foot. He was eligible to resume practice,...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Any remaining hope that the Packers had of offensive tackle Derek Sherrod being able to play this season officially ended Wednesday.
A three-week window in which Sherrod was allowed to practice with the team expired, and Green Bay's 2011 first-round pick had still not recovered from the broken leg he suffered Dec. 18 of last year.
Coach Mike McCarthy said...
Not even Randall Cobb could rescue the Packers against the Giants.
I’ve been doing the Packers Stock Report weekly for over two years now. Most of you know how it works.
But just in case, it’s important to know this while you’re reading and agreeing/disagreeing with my selections:
I don’t base the rising/falling/steady selections solely on the most recent game. The most...
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Aaron Rodgers and the rest of the Green Bay Packers have heard the comparisons between this season and their run to the Super Bowl title in 2010 in regard to the way the injuries have piled up.
Rodgers, the league's highest-rated quarterback this season, has been through this before. The media reminds him of that, but he calls this a "different team...
In a surprise move of the 2012 NFL season, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has finally come to terms with his own body and made a sports-media shattering announcement. He has finally come out of the blanket and revealed himself to be a 5 year old boy, which actually explains a whole lot.
"I just felt it was time," he said while eating a Pop Tart at a recent...

The current Green Bay Packers are not ready for a Super Bowl run. In fact, the team that was just annihilated by the New York Giants last Sunday night would likely struggle to make the playoffs.
Decimated by injuries, the Packers have been forced to plug inexperienced young players into key roles and shuffle veterans into new positions. And yet, the show...
Fantasy Football News - Green Bay Packer’s wide receiver, Greg Jennings, has been practicing this week and says he feels great heading into week 13. It’s worth noting that Jennings was close to returning against the Giants (and maybe they could have used him) but the Packers made him take one more week off. Now he’s practicing in full and the during the portion of practice...
The Packers have made the decision to put Derek Sherrod on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, which ends his season. Sherrod hasn't appeared in a regular season or preseason game since breaking his leg last season against the Kansas City Chiefs, and his recovery from that injury has gone much slower than expected.
Mike McCarthy also spoke on Tuesday about running...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- With three weeks left for fans to vote for the NFL's Pro Bowl starters, five Packers players would currently make the cut.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has the fourth-most overall votes (485,196), trailing only Broncos QB Peyton Manning (586,523 votes), Patriots QB Tom Brady (534,020) and Texans running back Arian Foster (519,261).
Clay Matthews leads all NFC...
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings was a full
participant in practice for the second day in a row Thursday, and it looks like
he’ll be ready to return this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings, while
fellow wide receiver Donald Driver and linebacker Clay Matthews were among the
players that didn’t suit up yesterday.
Jennings has been sidelined for most of the...
Linebacker Clay Matthews will remain sidelined this week with an hamstring injury, but the Green Bay Packers are hoping to get wide receiver Greg Jennings back on the field for Sunday's game against Detroit. Matthews has missed two games in a row with the lingering injury. And while the All-Pro linebacker has made some strides in his rehab work, he hasn't practiced all...
So in an effort to forget about the Packers dismal showing against the Giants, I instead decided to analyze something completely different, namely the first and only pass that one Graham Harrell has thrown in the National Football League. Some of you might know but Harrell was the only backup quarterback in the NFL who had never thrown a pass in a game (though it has to be said...

Eden Prairie, Minn. -- For Minnesota quarterback Christian Ponder and Green Bay strong safety Morgan Burnett, the Florida State-Georgia Tech rivalry will extend beyond Saturday night's Atlantic Coast Conference championship game.
Ponder was an FSU quarterback when he first faced Burnett and the Yellow Jackets in 2008. The two will meet again during the FOX America's Game...
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Packers coach Mike McCarthy is hoping that Sunday's 38-10 loss to the New York Giants was just one bad game, because he has no plans to do anything differently in preparation this week.
"We're not going to change the way we go about our business," McCarthy said in his Tuesday press conference. "Urgency, awareness is obviously heightened...
