Removed twice from games before losing his starting job last week in Atlanta, cornerback Fabian Washington will try to work through his coverage issues on Sunday in Charlotte. Secondary coach Chuck Pagano said this week he doesn't believe Washington's confidence has been shattered by the past three games.
"Fabian is a strong-minded guy," Pagano said. "He's been through this before. Last year he had a bad stretch there and came back and played well for us at the end. I say, no, he'll be fine. And we need him to be fine."
Pagano coached Washington when both were with the Raiders before arriving in Baltimore, so he has a history with the cornerback. And Pagano pointed to the passing carnage of Week 10 as an example of how difficult the position has become.
In 14 games, 13 quarterbacks threw for more than 300 yards -- the most 300-yard passers in any week in NFL history (previous high: 10, twice). Another four quarterbacks threw for more than 290. ...
