Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst says his players aren't getting too ahead of themselves after the Panthers upset Notre Dame on Saturday. Chryst jokes he didn't see anyone skipping in the halls after Pitt rallied to knock off the Fighting Irish 28-21 in what was probably the coach's biggest win since taking over at Pitt nearly two years ago. The victory bolstered Pitt's hopes for bowl eligibility. Chryst adds that the way his team didn't fold despite trailing for most of the first three quarters should give the Panthers (5-4, 2-3 ACC) confidence heading into this weekend's game against streaking North Carolina (4-5, 3-3). Pitt struggled with success last year. The Panthers stunned then 13th-ranked Virginia Tech in the third week of the season but didn't beat another FBS school for a month.

Notre Dame Win=Recruiting Win

First off, a heartfelt thank you to veterans. Thank you for allowing me the freedom to be focused on football today. Let’s abuse our freedoms by focusing on the whims of teenaged man-children and where they will go to college! Not only was the victory over Notre Dame a huge win for 2013, it was a huge win for the following five years due to the impression it made on recruits...

ACC Defends Controversial Targeting Ejection Of Notre Dame’s Stephon Tuitt As Correct Call

Notre Dame suffered its third loss of the season this weekend against Pittsburgh at Heinz Field, 28-21. The Irish played most of the game without star defensive end Stephon Tuitt, who was ejected early in the game on a rather controversial targeting call. Here’s a clip of the hit for a refresher (or you can check out more angles here): The call was met with skepticism on Twitter...

Louis Nix Had A Great Time Trolling Notre Dame Fans About Returning In 2014

Notre Dame’s star defensive tackle Louis Nix may actually be better at Twitter than he is at football, which is saying something. Nix is one of the most beloved members of the Fighting Irish, both for his very outgoing personality and his great sense of humor. Nix is a senior at Notre Dame, but can opt for a fifth year with the team if he so chooses. Most people believe that there...

Notre Dame squanders chance for BCS bowl berth

Notre Dame's chance to go to back-to-back BCS bowl games for the first time since the 2005-06 seasons is gone because it made too many mistakes against what had been a .500 team. The Fighting Irish (7-3) might have been able to overcome the two interceptions thrown by Tommy Rees against Pittsburgh (5-4) on Saturday, including one into the end zone. Or giving up a 63-yard touchdown...

Not much at stake for Notre Dame with 2 games left

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly isn't worried about his team having a lack of motivation for the final two regular-season games. There's not much at stake for the Fighting Irish (7-3), who were eliminated from a possible BCS bowl berth with a 28-21 loss to Pittsburgh last week. The Irish must now wait to see which conferences are unable to fill all their bowl affiliations....

Notre Dame DE Stephon Tuitt Vents About Ejection On Twitter, Vows Revenge

By most accounts, the penalty and ejection on Notre Dame defensive end Stephon Tuitt against Pitt Saturday night was one of the more confusing calls of the 2013 college football season. Tuitt was hit with the controversial “targeting rule” penalty for lowering his helmet into Pitt quarterback Tom Savage – even though Savage himself lowered his own helmet to brace for the impact...

No. 6 Notre Dame beats No. 19 Michigan State

Jewell Loyd had 22 points and nine rebounds and No. 6 Notre Dame dominated the boards in an 81-62 victory over No. 19 Michigan State on Monday night. Taya Reimer added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Irish (2-0), who finished with a 52-29 rebound advantage. Becca Mills scored 15 points for the Spartans (0-1). The last two meetings between Notre Dame and Michigan State - in 2008...

Rest, Recover, Refocus

Notre Dame won't practice this week. They can't, unless the plan is to use orthopedic boots, casts, and the team's trainers and doctors that apply them as part of defensive personnel groupings. But head coach Brian Kelly said today his team, especially his seniors, has a singular focus in its 10 days of remaining preparation for Brigham Young on November 23.
