In a promotion for the Illinois Lottery, Blackhawks winger Patrick Sharp dressed up in a dog costume and surprised a fan named Deb with a Valentines Day gift basket (in an attempt to demonstrate their motto that “anything’s possible”). She initially seems a little underwhelmed and confused by the whole thing, recognizing that she’s on camera and probably wondering why this random person dressed as a dog is giving her a gift basket. But then she sees the Blackhawks mascot, Tommy Hawk, and loses her marbles….all while Patrick Sharp is a mere 5 feet away from her. When he finally reveals his identity, Deb is speechless and most likely having the realization that all future Valentines Days are just bound to go downhill from here. Patrick—please feel free to surprise me with a gift basket any day you please. [NHL.com] Article found on: Cosby Sweaters

Corey Crawford was not at Blackhawks practice on Friday morning, and is day-to-day with an “upper-body injury,” according to coach Joel Quenneville. Crawford was run over in the third period against Anaheim. He was slow to get up from the … Continue reading →The post Corey Crawford Injured, Blackhawks Recall Henrik Karlsson appeared first on Committed Indians.
Reports are indicating that the Colorado Avalanche are now shopping unhappy free agent center Ryan O’Reilly. The question isn’t whether or not the Blackhawks should be interested (they should), but what could/should they be willing to give up to acquire … Continue reading →The post The Blackhawks Should Pursue Ryan O’Reilly appeared first on Committed Indians.
from Ben Strauss of the New York Times,
Blackhawks players seemed at a loss to explain their scorching start.
Right wing Patrick Kane, tied for second in the league through Wednesday with 20 points, said of his success, “Sometimes the puck finds you.”
Or as the captain Jonathan Toews put it, “I don’t know if there’s a method to the madness.”
Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville says goaltender Corey Crawford will start Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings.
Crawford left his last game with an upper-body injury. He played in only the first period of Thursday night's win at St. Louis. Ray Emery relieved Crawford against the Blues and finished off a 3-0 shutout.
Quenneville insists Crawford's latest injury...
It’s not often that you see two superstars pair off to go at it with each other, but that’s exactly what happened on Friday night when the Chicago Blackhawks took on the San Jose Sharks. Sharks captain Joe Thornton has 26 fights under his belt now, and this gives Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews three total fights for his career. Toews was incensed the entire shift and was...
The Chicago Blackhawks are off to an incredible start. After 14 games they are yet to suffer a loss in regulation. They have scored 19 goals more than they have allowed. A big part of their success is the play of Jonathan Toews. He is a great two-way player and my pick for the Selke Trophy at this point.
While playing on the league's top team he is clearly a step...
ST. PAUL, Minn. Andrew Brunette helped the Minnesota Wild for six seasons as a gritty forward willing to do the dirty work down low and along the boards. Now, he will try to help the team by finding players who compete the same way.
Brunette, 39, announced his retirement after 16 seasons in the NHL and Minnesota general manager Chuck Fletcher said he will join the organization...
I think Toews feels Thornton embellished the call a bit.
Both received 5 for fighting, Toews received 2 for boarding and 2 for unsportsmanlike conduct, probably starting a fight with a visor on.
