The Aqib Talib "sign or don't sign" game has been very hard to follow because both sides have been quiet or nonchalant about what they are feeling. Well sources told CSNNE that the Patriots are reluctant about whether or not to sign Talib to a long term deal. Why? Work ethic and potential behavior problems. Here is the ideal situation for the New England Patriots front office, according to the source: Sign Talib to a one year contract and see if he can prove himself in the offseason and make the Patriots believe that he will go to optional workouts, set an example, and then the Patriots sign him to a long-term deal. Here is the problem: The NFL is barren of good cornerbacks. The field for defensive backs is not fertile, but rather, desolate. Thus, the Patriots are most likely going to have to compete with massive, multi-year deals to sign Talib because if they do not, then other teams will get him and the Patriots defense will be back where it used to be.
