Paul Pierce has played for the Boston Celtics his whole career. While it was a shock to him to get traded to the Brooklyn Nets he handled it with class. Pierce also convinced fellow star teammate Kevin Garnett to be included in the trade to the Nets. Garnett had a no trade clause while Pierce did not. Below Pierce explains the phone call he had with Garnett. “It was one long, long phone call,” Pierce said with a laugh. “Probably like an hour-and-a-half, two hours. I just remember I was standing outside and it was 100 degrees, and I just remember after the phone call I was dripping sweat. “I was like, ‘Do you understand what’s going on in Boston? [A potential trade to the] Clippers thing appears to be dead. So what do you think, big fella? I know you don’t want to retire. Iknow you don’t want to retire. You have too much in the tank, you love the game too much. Sometimes you just have to tell Kevin to sit back and think about it. He reacts to everything. Like his initial reaction to ...

Paul Pierce ready to be 'glorified role player' in Brooklyn

Paul Pierce had spent his entire NBA career with the Boston Celtics as their go-to player. Especially when Rajon Rondo went down during the 2012-2013 season. Celtics Acquire Trade Exception

The Boston Celtics rebuild got a considerable yet understated shot in the arm with the trade involving Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce moving to the Brooklyn Nets. It's not surprising that this hasn't been widely reported...

Paul Pierce happy to be 'glorified role player' with Nets

There is an "I" in Paul Pierce but, when it comes to the Brooklyn Nets, the NBA star claims there won't be one there this season. If you look at the old version of the Nets, you might see an NBA squad already loaded with big names — up-and-coming Brook Lopez, one of the best shooting guards in Joe Johnson, and a top point guard in Deron Williams — and it might...
