Penn State is still looking to work out a plan to play a game in Ireland in the future. Quite honestly, as one of Irish descent, I love the idea. Playing a game in Ireland may get overshadowed nationally if the game is played on the opening weekend of the college football season. When huge games are kicking off the season in Atlanta and Arlington, a non-conference tilt on European soil will tend to fly under the radar. Even this past season's match-up between Notre Dame and Navy never really grabbed a national spotlight. The trick is to line up a game that would generate that kind of buzz on a weekend that is largely dominated in the southeast. But playing in Ireland brings a share of the national spotlight for a program looking to demonstrate good will, and the cultural experience of practicing and playing in Ireland while getting a chance to soak in the culture and environment can be far more rewarding than a postseason bowl game. Paterno legacy tarnished by Louis Freeh report; despite Paterno report

The Louis Freeh report, a Penn State internal investigation lacking subpoena power, was released in summer and the results were scathing for Joe Paterno, the Paterno family and the Paterno legacy. It’ll never be the same again. After that day, even those painted a halo over Paterno’s head on a mural in Happy Valley will realize the falseness of their idol. It’ll be very inappropriate...

Paternos challenge Freeh's findings

A new report commissioned by Joe Paterno's family challenges the conclusion by former FBI director Louis Freeh that the late Penn State coach conspired to conceal child sex abuse allegations against former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky. An executive summary of the critique, released Sunday, said the "observations" of Paterno by Freeh in July were unfounded....

Paterno family report does nothing to alter reality

On Sunday, the Paterno family released its response to the Freeh report in an attempt to salvage Joe Paterno’s reputation and discredit the document that came out last July. Freeh’s report laid out some damning statements against the former Penn State head football coach. But Paterno was more than just the head football coach. He WAS Penn State. So when Freeh’s report...
