Former Louisville point guard Peyton Siva spent just two weeks in the National Basketball Developmental League before being called back up to the Detroit Pistons.
Siva and fellow rookie teammate Tony Mitchell were sent to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Dec. 28. On Monday morning, the Detroit Pistons announced that both Siva and Mitchell will be added to the active roster.
“Guys learn more by being on the floor over just sitting there watching,” Pistons coach Maurice Cheeks told the Detroit Free Press prior to sending Siva & Mitchell to the NBDL. “I’ve gotten to that point where they learn more by playing than just watching.”
In five NBDL games, Siva averaged 12 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 2.6 steals. He scored 24-points in 28-minutes in his D-League debut. Siva help guide the Mad Ants to a 4-3 record during his two week tenure.
Siva’s two year deal with Detroit will pay him $490,000 this season and $816,000 next year.
