My Sports Rumors:
Twenty two times Olympics medalist Michael Phelps payed the members of the Baltimore Ravens a visit today. Phelps and his girlfriend Megan Rossee stopped by practice with the Olympian addressing the team. For those that didn’t know the Baltimore native Phelps is a HUGE fan of the team. He’s attended multiple games on the sideline. So what did he say??
“‘Go get ‘em!’ that was basically his message,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “He just talked about the last four years and what it takes to persevere like that, and he said, ‘Go get ‘em.’ .. He had a great message for us, and we appreciate that.” (The Baltimore Sun)
After practice today Phelps spent some talking with linebacker Ray Lewis. He’s said in the past that Lewis has been one of his biggest inspirations over the years. Someone that’s showed him the value of hardwork.
There was one player today that was very star struck and that was rookie kicker Justin Tucker.
“It’s pretty surreal,” rookie kicker Justin Tucker said. “A couple of weeks ago, somebody said, ‘Hey, have you met Ray Lewis yet’ I said, ‘Yeah, it was probably one of the first times in a long time that I’ve been sort of star struck. Then again, Michael Phelps comes out here, the most decorated Olympian of all time. It’s pretty special to have him come out here and hang out with us at practice.
“Just to say focused, get after it, and he really just wanted to come out here and say he’s proud to be out here and be from the Baltimore area. Seeing a guy like Michael Phelps come out here and share some love with us, it’s really cool.”(The Baltimore Sun)
Now that he’s got tons of free time I think we’ll be seeing a lot of Phelps on the Ravens sideline this year.

In his last meaningful action as a member of the Baltimore Ravens, PK Billy Cundiff missed a 32 yard field goal which would have tied the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots. On Sunday, the Ravens sent Cundiff packing as the team started to make roster moves in order to reach the 75-man roster limit by 4 p.m. Monday.
Cundiff led the Ravens in scoring last season...
Baltimore Ravens all pro middle linebacker is a throw back to the good old days. Lewis could have played linebacker in any era with the same destruction. The future Hall of Famer is not feeling the NFL’s measures to make the game safer. Pro Football Talk is reporting that Lewis expressed his views to Bob Glauber of Newsday recently. “The league is meddling too [.....
The Ravens needed to reduce their roster to 75 players. Part of that process is figuring out what to do with injured players.
Baltimore did just that Monday afternoon.
The Ravens placed Terrell Suggs on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list because of his Achilles’ tendon injury. Being placed on the PUP means that Suggs will miss at least the first six games of the season...
The Baltimore Ravens reportedly have cut kicker Billy Cundiff on Sunday. The team had yet to confirm release of the former Pro Bowl kicker, which was reported by ESPN.com. Cary Williams is betting a lot on good health and great play.
Football is not a game for the faint of heart. Not only is it physically dangerous and mentally taxing, the decisions players have to make to maximize income carry a high risk. The choice Ravens CB Cary Williams has made this season is a perfect example.
Cary could have signed a longer term contract with the Ravens to...

The Ravens have parted ways with former Pro Bowl kicker Billy Cundiff.Fantasy Spin:Cundiff had a nice run with Baltimore but unfortunately he'll probably be most remembered for shanking an easy 32-yard attempt that would have sent last season's AFC Championship game into overtime. With Cundiff gone, rookie Justin Tucker will now handle the kicking duties for the Ravens.
