You have to give it to Phil Mickelson for the following schedule which seems insane, but it is for family. Phil had to miss practice at Merion Golf Club for the U.S. open in order to make his daughter’s graduation, and he will be cutting it close even to his start time. Phil will watch his daughter graduate Wednesday night in San Diego and hop on a 4.5 hour flight to Merion Golf Club in Pennsylvania where he will tee off less than six hours later. Well done, Phil. MIckelson will watch his daughter graduate 2nite in SD, leave about 6 pm., fly 4.5 hours, lose 3 hours, arrive @ 1:30 a.m., T off @ 7:11 am. — Rick Reilly (@ReillyRick) June 12, 2013   Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Another Mickelson story at the US Open

By the time Phil Mickelson got some caffeine in him and began making birdies on the back nine, the fans who braved wild warnings of hail and torrential rain in the opening round of the U.S. Open started to get the idea that something more interesting than the weather was happening at venerable Merion Golf Club. In a place that oozes history, a modern kind of story was unfolding....

Long day ends near top for Lefty

Even for Phil Mickelson, his path to the top of the leaderboard Thursday in the U.S. Open was unconventional. He traveled about 2,400 miles in the air and 7,000 yards on the ground. He took a short nap on his private jet from San Diego and another one during a rain delay when he found a secluded corner of the library room in the Merion clubhouse. He carried five wedges but no driver...

Click on photo to read more about Phil Mickelson’s U.S. Open Phil Mickelson is my favorite golfer. One thing about Phil is he makes absolutely no bones about the fact his family is his number one priority, which is terrific. Now with that said, I give Phil a 50-50 chance to make the cut this weekend. Merion is a tricky course and he needed to get a practice round in. The Press...

Taiwan-born Pan shoots 2-over 72

Pan Cheng-tsung had a pretty good day on the course. He felt even better about it when he scanned the scores. ''When I look at the scoreboard with my last name up there, it's pretty cool,'' he said. Taiwan-born Pan was one of several amateurs who had a respectable showing in Thursday's opening round of the U.S. Open. Pan shot a 2-over 72 at Merion Golf Club...
