Al Bello/Getty Image The first round of the 2012 NFL draft is in the books and what a whirlwind night it was at Radio City Music Hall.  Amidst the surprises of the evening came the Eagles with one of the biggest.  They actually did what most people were predicting in trading up for defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. There was a time when the Philadelphia faithful would have been disgusted with the selection of an interior lineman but not on this night.  Eagles fans have had their eye on Cox for much of the past month and with each selection the anticipation grew that he could actually be had. When the Eagles decided to make a really reasonable trade of pick Nos. 15, 114 and 172 to get their target the fan base was beyond pleased. In Fletcher Cox the Eagles picked up a very athletic and versatile defensive tackle.  He measures 6’4″ and weighs in at a healthy 298 pounds.  He also ran the fastest 40-time for a defensive tackle at the combine at 4.79. In the Eagles’ wide-nine alignment they...

Fletcher Cox.. Image via nems360.com The Eagles did it. They traded up, but not to get inside the top 10. After seeing some of the players projected to go to them get taken early–Stephon Gilmore, Dontari Poe, Mark Barron–the team didn’t want to tempt fate any further and hope that their man would be there at the 15th spot. So instead, they did what they do so well. They moved...

Eagles Trade Up, Make An Incredible Pick In DT Fletcher Cox

In the 2010 draft, I screamed at the TV when the Eagles took Brandon Graham. 2011, when Danny Watkins was picked, I said, “Who?”. This year, I yelled at the TV as well... but this time it was out of pure excitement. Jeff Lurie and company finally made a move I agree with. They finally made a move to take a legitimate player who has a chance to make an instant impact on this team...

Kansas City Chiefs Draft Dontari Poe: Could Get Scalped

Poe-no. I can’t believe it. I’m still waiting for someone to wake me up and tell me this was a big fat (pun intended) joke. KC had the perfect chance to nab a player every single person who’s heard of football thinks will be a decade long Pro Bowler. They should have been licking their chops at the thought of picking Stanford guard David DeCastro or at the worst possible case...
