It felt like "hittin' season" early Wednesday night as Chase Utley hit a two-run home run to dead center field for the second time this season and Domonic Brown launched a massive three-run home run to the 300 level down the right field line at Citizens Bank Park. The five-run outburst against Mets starter Jeremy Hefner was enough for the Phillies to pick up 7-3 victory, bringing the Phillies to within one win of the .500 mark. The game was delayed by a brief 27-minute rain delay and Kyle Kendrick labored through six innings to pick up his first win of the season.
"We're scoring a lot of runs," Kendrick said after the game. "It's nice on the starters. We've just got to keep our team in the game. But heading down to Miami, we're feeling good right now after winning the series."
The Phillies entered this series with the Mets having already blown two separate early 4-0 leads against the Kansas City Royals. Against the Mets, the ...

Who said the hijinks of Philadelphia fans is relegated to what takes place inside the stadium? Take this guy, for instance, ya know, if you don’t mind seeing a bit of man butt. It appears this fan, who takes his drinking very seriously, decided it would be hysterical to let another member of his tailgating party to literally brand him with a red-hot barbecue spatula! Have fun explaining...
Is Roy Halladay over the hill? Probably. But that depends on what you think a hill is. He may be finished as a dominant major league starting pitcher, but really, that happens to every dominant major league starting pitcher. Halladay is a three-time 20-game winner, a two-time Cy Young winner, an eight-time all-star and he’s led the league in complete games seven different years...
There were questions before April about this year’s production for the Philadelphia Phillies and their new third baseman Michael Young. Is the meat of the attack better with him in it? TAL’S HANDY CAPS: POLL WELCOME, NEWCOMERS: This is my 11th poll and I will hone them over time, like my other postings. If you’re interested in checking out something different, my storyline...
Once we get past the first week of the season we get to the point where fantasy baseball players become nervous about certain players on their roster. There is an internal voice in every player’s head when the switch gets turned from “it’s early” to “I’m worried.” That switch is different for every fantasy player and each individual ML player has earned a certain amount...
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the 1993 Philadelphia Phillies going from worst to first and winning the National League pennant. All season long we will take a look back at each game of the 1993 season.

Tonight’s game had all the makings of a disaster: Kyle Kendrick on the hill, up 5-1 in the second, with bases loaded immediately following a John Buck HR. It felt like what is now a too familiar story to the 2013 Phillies: a big early lead surrendered almost as quick. But then something remarkable happened...
The Philadelphia Phillies look to win their first series of the year against the Mets behind Kyle Kendrick.

Can they put together two in a row? Will they get the game in?! These are the questions facing the Kyle Kendrick-led Phillies tonight as they do battle with...
The Phillies whooped some Mets a** last night. With Cliff Lee on the mound and a wholloping set of home runs, the Phillies were able to even this three-game series at one-a-piece. Cliff Lee was spectacular once again last night. Nearly going the distance, but falling short at 8 2/3...
Cliff Lee is one out short of pitching a complete game as the Phils’ bats wake up to rout the Mets, winning 8-3.
The Phils take the lead in the bottom of the second as, with runners on second and third, and with one man out, John Mayberry Jr. hits a two-run double, knocking in Michael Young, who had earlier singled, then stopped at third base on Dom Brown’s single, and Brown...
Chase Utley hit a go-ahead triple in the 10th inning off Jon Rauch, and the Philadelphia Phillies beat Miami 3-1 Friday night and dropped the Marlins to 1-9.
Miami is off to the poorest start by a big league team since Baltimore and Houston lost nine of their first 10 games in 2010, according to STATS. The Marlins, held to four singles by John Lannan and four relievers, are batting...
Final: Mets 3, Phillies 8.
WP: Cliff Lee (2-0, 1.08 ERA) LP: Dillon Gee (0-2, 7.71 ERA)
Cliff Lee didn't disappoint yet again this evening. He lasted eight and two-thirds innings, allowing just three runs, two of them earned, on eight hits. He walked none, and struck out a total of six batters. He now has two of the three total wins thus far in 2013 for the Phillies.
Final: Phillies 3, Marlins 1.
WP: Phillippe Aumont (1-0, 0.00 ERA) LP: Jon Rauch (0-1, 6.23 ERA) SV: Jonathan Papelbon (2)
Going into extra innings tonight tied at one run a piece, for the first-time of the season, not much had occured prior in tonight's game. For one thing, John Lannan continued his great effectiveness as a fifth starter in the rotation, as he went six innings...
