Phillies sign Pedro, put him on 15-day DL

Pedro Martinez agreed to a contract with the Philadelphia Phillies, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said Wednesday. The team put the three-time Cy Young winner on the 15-day disabled list with a mild shoulder strain. It has not been determined when he will begin a rehab assignment. Terms of the contract were not disclosed but the deal is reportedly worth $1 million for one year. The 37-year-old Martinez went 5-6 with a 5.61 ERA for the New York Mets last year.
