Lauri Korpikoski has been put on injured reserve Friday for the Phoenix Coyotes. In his place they called up Tim Kennedy from AHL Portland to take his place. This per their team twitter feed. The 27 year old Korpikoski missed a 7-4 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday with an upper body injury. The forward from Finland signed a four year extension in July worth $10 million. He is an important role player for the Coyotes having scored two points in 10 games so far this year, while averaging 15 plus minutes a game. The winger who is 6 foot 1 and 205 pounds has shown he can be a physical player. He is second among Coyotes with 33 hits, which is also 11th most in the NHL and ninth among all forwards. He is eight back of fellow teammate Martin Manzal who is second with 41 hits. There is still no word on how much time Korpikoski will miss. They play tonight in Edmonton and Tuesday against the Kings and Thursday against Nashville. The amount of games he loses will depend on if his IR...

Problems persist for Coyotes, even in fun win

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Slow starts, blown leads, high-scoring games. This is exactly the brand of hockey you expected from the Phoenix Coyotes, right? "Entertainment, entertainment," said coach Dave Tippett, who decided to play along with the narrative for a few quotes following Saturday's 5-4 matinee win over the Edmonton Oilers. "We're going to rewrite history...

Coyotes looking for consistency at blue line

The Phoenix Coyotes have matched their best start in a dozen years, have one of the NHL's highest-scoring offenses, and have shown that no lead is safe. Coach Dave Tippett still isn't happy with the way his team is playing. The goals and wins? Any coach will take those, even a defensive-minded one like Tippett. It's everything else that he is concerned about. '...

Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-4

Fans of a Dave Tippett coached team are not often treated to the type of offensive explosion seen in Saturday's matinee. The defensively-minded coach will take the two points earned by the Phoenix Coyotes in their 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oilers, but it's not the way he wants his team to play. "Our game is not in very good shape," Tippett said. "I love scoring...
