The Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday recalled righthander Ross Ohlendorf from Triple-A Indianapolis for a start against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Ohlendorf had been in the minor leagues completing an injury rehabilitation assignment. He has not pitched for the Pirates since April due to a shoulder strain.
Ohlendorf was 11-10 in 2009 but just 1-11 a year ago. He made just two starts this season before going on the DL.
To make room on the roster, the Pirates designated lefthanded reliever Joe Beimel for assignment. Beimel has a 4.81 ERA in 24 1/3 innings this season but could attract a trade partner looking for an extra arm in the bullpen.
