Found May 03, 2013 on Project Spurs:
With the firing of head coach Lawrence Frank, there's a vacancy in the head coach position with the Detroit Pistons. Not only have the Pistons organization recruited Phil Jackson to help them with the coaching hunt, they also have an interest on a top San Antonio Spurs assistant coach. San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Mike Budenholzer has emerged as a candidate for the Detroit Pistons' head coaching job, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Pistons president Joe Dumars traveled to San Antonio on Wednesday and spent several hours meeting with Budenholzer, the top assistant to Gregg Popovich. Coach Bud's coaching skills have gotten extra recognition as of late, especially with his coaching in the NBA Summer League with younger players. He's been seen the heir to the Coach Pop's head coaching throne, but teams are always looking at Budenholzer every time there's an opening so there might be an offer he can't refuse. Phil Jackson is a defensive minded coach and that's the background to Bud's coaching skills. Jackson has also commented how he sees similarities in the Spurs' system this year compared to his old Triangle Offense scheme, so it wouldn't be surprising for the Pistons to make a hard run at Budenholzer to try to bring back the franchise to respectability. Would Coach Bud leaving the organization be a huge blow Spurs fans?

Jackson to serve as Pistons consultant

The Detroit Pistons have hired Phil Jackson in an advisory role with the organization and he will assist the team in finding its next head coach.

Why does Joe Dumars still have a job with the Detroit Pistons?

The Detroit Pistons have become irrelevant. That is the worse crime that a sports team can make. The entire Detroit sports fan base doesn’t seem to care about that team anymore. We see that in the empty seats at the Palace every time the Pistons play a home game, and I can prove it by [...]

Phil Jackson to consult Pistons

Phil Jackson is joining the Detroit Pistons. No, he's not going to be the new head coach, but the Zen Master will be involved in the search for the next person to fill that role. Jackson, a friend of Pistons owner Tom Gores, has agreed to advise Gores and team president Joe Dumars as they look for a replacement for Lawrence Frank, who was fired last month. Phil Jackson is...

Could Phil Jackson’s Advisory of Detroit Pistons Lead to a Front Office Future in Auburn Hills?

Phil Jackson has drawn up plenty of plays in the past, but could there be a power play being drawn up for Jackson to eventually join the Detroit Pistons’ front office? I ended up getting...

(Photos) Tony Parker goes to the zoo

Before the San Antonio Spurs found out who they'll face in the West Semifinals (Golden State) and aside from taking in practice, Tony Parker visited the San Antonio Zoo in his spare time. Spurs patiently await opponent for 2nd round

The San Antonio Spurs know the playoffs require physicality, focus and teamwork. They have learned patience is needed, too. For the second consecutive postseason, San Antonio will wait at least a week between series in the Western Conference playoffs. After completing a sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers on April 28, the Spurs are awaiting the winner between Golden State and Denver...

Well, that settles it. Brian Shaw to be next Pistons coach

Phil Jackson to advise Pistons

Um, amazing:  "Phil Jackson is a friend and one of the best minds in the business," Tom Gores said. "We are thrilled to have him as an adviser as we make some very important decisions for this franchise. Joe (Dumars) and I discussed this and he and I are in full agreement that this is a great opportunity."   What will his role be exactly? One of Gores...

Phil Jackson helping out the Pistons

It seems like any coaching vacancy that opens up these days is followed with the immediate thought that “hey, Phil Jackson might want to coach there.” The answer is always no, and Jackson has shown no signs of wanting to return to the bench, whether it be for a contender or the challenge of a young, undisciplined project. Jackson’s name has also been thrown around as a candidate...

Jackson talks series with Spurs, Parker, Popovich, and more

San Antonio will have had one week off from the playoffs compared to Golden State and the Spurs will look to take advantage of that. Video: Bowen weighs in on Denver's physicality with Curry

Former San Antonio Spurs forward Bruce Bowen had a reputation as being a "dirty" player when he was in the NBA. Bowen chalked it up to simply tough defense, but he wasn't without his incidents and altercations on the court whenever a player took exception to his brand of defense. In Game 5 of the Nuggets-Warriors opening round series, Denver was accused of being...
