Perhaps it was a game that the Lakers simply needed more after an expensive offseason saw them land two of the biggest names in the NBA. Or maybe it was simply the Pistons being out of their league as Detroit fell to 0-3 on the season after a 108-79 blowout loss to the Lakers.
LA was energized from the opening tip with Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol dominating down low combining for 21 points as the Lakers went on to a 23-5 run to finish the quarter.
Howard finished with Laker team high of 28 points.
Meanwhile the Pistons starting five struggled to points on the board as neither player managed to score in double figures. Rodney Stuckey, who had his contract extended in the offseason continues to struggle the most as he was 0 for 6 on the night in field goal attempts and falls to 1 for 23 on the season.
