Pittsburgh is excited about joining the ACC this season, and it makes sense. No longer attached to playing games against the likes of Temple, Connecticut and incoming Big TBA (my temporary name for the old/new Big East until a name is determined) like Boise State, San Diego State, Houston, Memphis and others, the Panthers are faced with an attractive schedule featuring games against some big names in college sports like Florida State and Notre Dame and Miami. This year Pittsburgh boasts what they believe to be the hottest home schedule in the country, at least according to a brand new ticket promo released today for the upcoming season. Pittsburgh's home schedule this 2013 season, the first as an ACC member, includes games against Florida State (in the season and ACC opener on Labor Day), Virginia, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Miami. It also includes games against New Mexico and Old Dominion. Certainly that is one attractive home schedule when talking about name and brand recognition in college football. It incudes games against the defending ACC and Orange Bowl champion Seminoles as well as the BCS championship game runners up from Notre Dame. Throw in Miami and North Carolina, two teams that would have been in the ACC championship game if not for separate postseason probations, and the Panthers appear to have some work cut out for them in their first season at play in their new conference home. Is it the hottest in the country, as they want you to believe? It could very well be form top to bottom. Which home schedule do you think is better overall?
