Playoff hockey is unlike anything else in sports, and the Bruins and Maple Leafs seemed intent on reminding fans of that in Game 4. A wild second period ended with Boston and Toronto tied at three goals apiece, and surely left everybody playing — and watching — gasping for breath and waiting for more. NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is fired up to see what the third period (and maybe even overtime) will have in store for us. Join NESN Nation: In-game home page | Twitter | Facebook

Toronto defenseman takes puck to the face

As previously noted on Outside the Boxscore, taking a puck to the face is a rather painful affair and earlier tonight, Toronto's Mark Fraser felt that pain right in his face. It happened in the third period of play in game four of the Bruins/Maple Leafs series and watch as Mark goes airborne after the shot hits him: (Courtesy of @CJZero)

Mark Fraser takes slap shot to the face

Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mark Fraser knew that goalie James Reimer was down and out of the play and decided to get in front of this Bruins shot.  Unfortunately for Fraser, the puck went higher than anticipated and caught him right in the forehead.  Fraser did not return to the game and this is just another example of why visors should be mandatory. Toronto’s Mark Fraser Was Hit In The Face With Puck And It Looked Excruciatingly Painful

Need another reason to think that hockey is a dangerous sport? In the third period of Game 4 of the Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins series, Toronto defenseman Mark Fraser was the victim of a frightening moment. While Fraser was skating around he caught a screaming shot by Boston’s Milan Lucic with his face. Unfortunately for Fraser he does not wear a visor so the puck smashed directly...

James Reimer’s Family Exhibits Stress of Overtime Playoff Hockey (Animation)

Sudden-death overtime is nerve-wracking enough if you’re a hockey fan, but that stress is multiplied tenfold if one of your family members is on the ice. And if that family member is the goalie? Forget about it. That was evident on the faces of Maple Leafs netminder James Reimer‘s family, who could hardly bear to watch as Reimer’s Leafs fell to the Bruins 4-3 in the extra session...

Toronto’s Mark Fraser Has Surgery to Repair Facial Fracture After Taking Shot to Face (Video)

The NHL has seen an unfortunate number of players taking slapshots to the face this season (Sidney Crosby and Marc Staal, to name a few). Mark Fraser became the latest victim Wednesday night, when a one-timer off the stick of Boston’s Milan Lucic sent the Maple Leafs defenseman down to the ice in a heap. Fraser underwent surgery to repair a facial fracture in the cranial area...

Mark Fraser Takes One Between The Eyes

((HT: CBC/NHL)) This isn't pretty... and the HQ doesn't have an update yet on Fraser's condition... The Leafs have needed Fraser's sandpaper this series and they're shorthanded enough already. James Reimer even looks like he's hurting a little bit after the second period barrage from the Bruins... More when we know more...

The hostile stare down between Elisha Cuthbert and Reimer’s wife that wasn’t (video)

In a classic case of “Much Ado About Nothing,” Elisha Cuthbert, the gorgeous actress girlfriend of Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf, and April Reimer, the beautiful wife of Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer, appeared to be setting the stage of a WAG-on-WAG cat fight for the ages when the two appeared to engage in an ultimate stare down during at the conclusion of...

Julien downplays controversial sign

Bruins coach Claude Julien has played down a ''Toronto Stronger'' sign carried by a Maple Leafs fan before Game 3 of their NHL playoff series. Julien suggested it was the misguided product of a playoff-driven supporter. The sign was seen by many as an insensitive play off the ''Boston Strong'' slogan that the Bruins' hometown adopted in the wake...

This Is Allegedly Maple Leafs Fan Getting KO’d By Guy On Scooter

In case you didn’t hear, Toronto has been a complete mess this week with the Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup playoff…

Leafs' Fraser has surgery on face

The NHL has seen an unfortunate number of players taking shots to the face this season (see: Sidney Crosby and Marc Staal). Mark Fraser became the latest victim Wednesday night, when a one-timer off the stick of Boston's Milan Lucic sent the Maple Leafs defenseman down to the ice in a heap. Fraser underwent surgery to repair a facial fracture in the cranial area -- literally...

Elisha Cuthbert’s Eye Roll Incited a Social Media Sh*t-Storm

Elisha Cuthbert, who is a fiancee of Leafs defenceman Dion Phaneuf, had a ‘seemingly’ great eye-roll while staring at April Reimer, who is the wife of the Leafs goalie James Reimer, and the Internet immediately lost it.   #bbpBox_332320774587293696 a { text-decoration:none; color:#9018A8; }#bbpBox_332320774587293696 a:hover { text-decoration:underline; }The ***** face Reimer...

Game 4: A chance to fix last year’s wrongs

The Boston Bruins have a chance to essentially end their first round series tonight Leaving the Verizon Center after game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals a year ago, the thing I kept saying to myself was that the Boston Bruins were going to have an opportunity to essentially end the series. After splitting the first two games of the series in Boston, the Bruins went into...

April Reimer and Elisha Cuthbert’s misunderstood stare down

After Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf made a horrible pinch in the offensive zone in overtime, the Boston Bruins went down on an odd-man rush and Bruins forward David Krejci scored the game-winning goal on James Reimer.  The goal that Reimer let in was particularly weak, and the reaction from his wife April Reimer and Phaneuf’s fiance Elisha Cuthbert seemed like it...

Maple Leafs-Bruins Preview

The third win over the Toronto Maple Leafs was pretty difficult. And yet the Boston Bruins know that the fourth will be even harder. The Bruins returned to the TD Garden for an optional practice on Thursday, just hours after David Krejci completed a hat trick with an overtime winner that gave Boston a 3-1 lead over Toronto in the best-of-seven playoff series. ''I guess...

Bruins Must Keep Foot to Gas Pedal, Not Allow Maple Leafs Chance to Get Back Into Series (Video)

The Bruins have looked great in two games against the Maple Leafs and have two wins to show for it. They didn’t play well in the other game, however, and all the games count just the same in the end. That makes Wednesday night’s Game 4 all the more significant, since Toronto can knot things up at two games apiece with a win despite not looking like the better team for most of...
