Metallica Night at AT&T Park began and ended with a bang as the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 2-1.
James Hetfield was on the field to get the game started with a Let’s Go Giants chant and Metallica-inspired headshots of each Giants player was shown on the board during his at-bat. Long blonde hair on Buster Posey may not ever catch on but that photo on the video board will last with us (and the Internet) forever.
Barry Zito concluded his scoreless streak at AT&T Park after 25.1 straight shutout innings. Tonight the Giants defense was a major help for Zito, who allowed all six leadoff hitters he faced to reach base.
“Tonight was tough for me. I didn’t have command at all…I made pitches when I needed it but you can’t go out there and do that at this level” Zito said.
