USF (9-22, 3-15 Big East) starts its quest to continue its season in the first round of the Big East Tournament tonight against Villanova (21-10, 9-9 Big East). The Bulls aren’t headed in the right direction, having dropped eight of their last 10 with the two victories coming against the only team below them in the conference standings – DePaul. Of course, the Wildcats aren’t exactly peaking either. After starting the season 17-2, Villanova has gone 4-8 over their last 12. When these teams faced each other on January 6 (an 83-71 Wildcat victory), Villanova was the #7 team in the nation.With both teams not playing well as of late, this may be a less than desirable watch tonight, but the Wildcats still have a shot at making the NCAA Tournament. The Big East has been the nation’s toughest conference all year and could take as many as 10 teams to the tourney. That number has even gone as high as 11 in recent weeks.
