Penn State has dismissed freshman defensive end Shawn Oakman from the football team for a violation of team rules. The school announced the dismissal Tuesday night and did not give details. Oakman, a 6-foot-9, 270-pound defensive end from The Lansdowne, sat out last season as a redshirt.

A court filing Thursday by prosecutors in the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case said his alleged victims ranged in age from 8 to 17, and that crimes involving eight of the boys occurred on the Penn State University campus.

North Carolina will travel to State College, Pa. Friday to take on Penn State and Michigan in a tri-meet. This will be the first time this season the Heels will face either team, and will be the team's first meet on the road in four weeks. Last year, UNC lost to Penn State in Chapel Hill.
