PLAYERS: Aaron Curry
TEAMS: Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders have added linebacker Aaron Curry to the team's active roster. Curry was taken off the physically unable to perform list Tuesday. Linebacker Vic So'oto was waived to make room on the 53-man roster. Curry was placed on the list at the start of training camp because of injured knees. He resumed practice on Oct. 17 and needed to be activated this week or he would have been unable to play for the Raiders this season. Curry, the fourth overall pick by Seattle in 2009, was acquired in a midseason trade last year for a seventh-round pick in 2012 and a conditional fifth-rounder in 2013. He played in 11 games, starting nine, for the Raiders and had 32 solo tackles, three passes defensed and two fumble recoveries.

Oakland Raiders LB Aaron Curry returns to practice after PUP stint

The Oakland Raiders received a welcome addition to Wednesday's practice, with the return of linebacker Aaron Curry. The former fourth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft was on the physically unable to perform list all season dealing with a knee injury. “He looked good,” Raiders head coach Dennis Allen said. “He moved around well, so I think the key is to see how he responds...

Oakland Raiders QB Carson Palmer calls Jacksonville Jaguars game a must win

As the Oakland Raiders prepare for their home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday, quarterback Carson Palmer knows that it is a must win. With both teams entering the game with a 1-4 record and the Raiders only one and a half games back in the AFC West, they must string together wins starting this week.     “It’s a must win game for us,” Palmer said. “We had...

Oakland Raiders offense should excel against Jacksonville Jaguars

After a crushing loss to the Atlanta Falcons, the Oakland Raiders return home this Sunday to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are coming off a bye and the teams have identical 1-4 records. The Raiders will be looking to continue the offensive success they had against the Falcons and take advantage of a subpar Jacksonville defense. Oakland was able to account for 474...

Denarius Moore is Palmer's Favorite Target

Oakland wideout Denarius Moore has obviously become the Raiders' No. 1 receiver based on Sunday's play (nine targets, 5 rec, 104 yards, 1 TD).Fantasy Spin:Despite the return of Darrius Heyward-Bey, Moore was Carson Palmer's favorite target for the fourth consecutive week. Moore leads the Raiders in targets with 35, in touchdown receptions (2) and is second on the team...

Offensive Game Grades: Week 6 vs. Atlanta

Carson Palmer and the Oakland Raiders nearly pulled a huge upset against the undefeated Falcons on Sunday. It was a close game for all four quarters, but the Falcons ended up with the last score and the win. Despite gaining more than 47o yards of total offense, the Silver&Black came out of the Georgia Dome on the losing side. So [...]

State of the AFC West: Week 7 Edition

A lot went down in the AFC West during week 6. OAKLAND RAIDERS Starting with your very own Oakland Raiders, they put up a valiant effort against the last unbeaten team in the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons. It wasn’t pretty, but the Raiders’ gutty performance tells me they could very well make a run during the next three weeks that [...]

AFC West Beat: Raiders Take On Jags in Battle of Bad Teams

Raiders' secondary took step forward in loss to Falcons

To borrow from cliche, what didn't kill the Oakland Raiders' secondary has apparently made the unit stronger. The Raiders lost both of their starting cornerbacks, Ron Bartell (broken scapula) and Shawntae Spencer (foot sprain) in the first two weeks, and neither looks to be returning within the next couple of weeks. Taking it on the chin through the first four games of...

Jaguars-Raiders Preview

The Oakland Raiders showed improvement on both sides of the ball last week, but they still couldn't get back into the win column after their bye. The Jacksonville Jaguars can't fare much worse as they return to the field. Oakland tries to build on a near-upset of the NFL's lone unbeaten team Sunday when it hosts a Jaguars team that's had plenty of time to stew over...

Considering that Chris Johnson has proven to be a bush league player, the thrifty Tennessee Titans will certainly never pick up the wannabe star’s $9 million option after this season. The 27-year-old Johnson, who the Titans (2-4) chose out of … Continue reading →
